Is ARR Running out of Stuff?

All times in EST +10:30 for IST.

I listened to VandeMatharam in which ARR recycled his own tunes from Kizhakku Ceemayile and a touch of a song from Indira.
Also ARR's recent movies for big time producers like Ratchagan and Iruvar (except one song) and Dhoud in Hindi did not have any notable music. Remember ARRs last hit Minsarak Kanavu music was done long time ago.

If for a major album for Sony released on 50th year of Indian Independence, ARR cannot produce original music, then I have to come to the conclusion that he is running out of stuff. I heard that ARR is planning to cut down on movies and concentrate more on albums. Thus he will have to produce less and earn more.

Right now I do not see any difference in the quality of music produced by ARR and Karthik Raja. In fact I think Deva is doing a better job of providing consistant good quality music.

  I think ARR Fan is fan of Raj also. That is why he is trying his best to convert all the threads into 'dlkjhfsd' stuff which is Raj's ambition.

  IMO on Padaiyappa:
  
  (1) Theme song
  It has alredy been called a stale "composition" (decomposition rather :-)). At length it had been marauded and I do not wish to add more fuel to the fire.
  
  (2) Minsara Kanna
  A very good effort from ARR with disturbing results. Admitted that Nithya is a gifted Carnatic exponent, but she is intolerable in this duet. Special note needs to be given for the incoherent swaras/ alapanas at the end. A real good start sailing uncomfortably through the middle crash ending at last.
  Someone needs to tell ARR that use of Nithya does not obligate him to make her sing swaras in every song. The effort of ARR is commendable but the output is not.
  
  (3)Suthi Suthi:
  Thank ARR for giving this tune - IMO the best in the album with SPB allowing his voice to melt and mix with passion. Harini's voice is really adorable in the sense that it tickles (which is the inferred theme of the song). The lryics are completely unacceptable and just wondering how VM manifests his perversions verbally. The need for "edhugai - monai" (rhyme) has really pulled down the lyrical quality.
  I personally feel SPB and Harini's voices are excellent when they are individual. Harini sings very lightly whereas SPB has done it heavy. The former's voice gives apicture of an 18 year (or near that) old girl and the latter's of a mature male. Seems a bit of mismatch - IMO though.
  
  (4)Kikku:
  An OK song from ARR. Nothing to comment/commend.
  
  (5)Vazkayil
  This song would have been better if the lyrics read "Ayyappa" rather than "Padayappa". With a little distortion here and there in the lyrics this song will be a very good hit among the Ayyappa bahkthas (paatiley puli ellam varuthu ). As inferred from the lyrics it is an "energy booster" for Rajni in the film. The very first song which struck me when I listened to this was the "Kallum muLLum kAlukku meththai". I wonder if ARR had tried a "bhakthi" song on Padayappa.
  
  On the whole the winner of the album is Suthi suthi vantheega of SPB + Harini

  I really don't get this concept of 'Rajnish' songs.
  
  Were all the songs of Veera and Ejamaan and Dhalapathi similar and Rajniish?
  
  Why are we blaming Rajni for ARRs short-comings?
  
  Every time ARR comes out with crappy music, some one else is blamed. Remember Daud? It was Ram Gopal Verma's fault. Not ARRs.
  
  I listened to a few Padayappa songs. I don't think they are all that bad, but definitely 'Devaish'.

  I don't think this DF is biased in favour of any MD. There are a no. of healthy and unhealthy fights between various groups of admirers. May be Deva does not have any supporters.

  According to the newspaper, the Padayappa is already sold-out 300 000 copies only in Chennai within a few hours. In a few month later, it will defenitely breaks the record. The songs are really good once you heard them quiet number of times.
  
  I understand the envy of diehard IR fans which can never & ever stop ARR to acheive his target. Whatever you say whether it may plagarism or trash or recycling... that will never even scratch the good real talent of ARR. No wonder why ardent IR fans are always complaining ARR's good work is bcoz they are from IR university what can be expected other than a lot of critisms.
  
  I remember there were numerous critisms against the Jeans soundtrack in this forum earlier and later on, you had admitted and accepted that the songs are really nice ones. The same thing happening to Padayapa and I am quiet sure it will turn good to you guys once you get familiar with the songs. This is the born nature of IR and IR fans in acusing others of what they yet be acheieved.

  If the Indolink is a pro ARR group, then this can be pro IR forum and should not be anti-ARR. In Indolink group, there is a healthy discussion and the ppl are arguing with good points but, here all IR worshippers are just blindly bashing ARR without realising the good talent of him.
  
  We, ARR fans, are always appreciate the good music regardless of the MD whether he may be IR, ARR, Deva that it is what our ARR wants.

This and another one at tamilcinema.com on no grounds are comparable to our DF where the participation is from the respectable fan community. Infact I hold it shameful to our DF if it is compared to any of these.

  Its tough to pinpoint if the sale of cassettes is bcoz of ARR or Rajini. Anyway, do you feel Padaiyappa songs are better than any of the ARR's earlier compositions for Rajni?
  
  Shankar and MS, there are enough kuzhayadi sandais even in TFM DF, but it is in more refined way here :).
