Rahman's much anticipated "Boys" is set to release soon and everyone is keen on finding out more about this album. Who are the singers? What are the soundtracks like? When is the release date? Will the album be delayed? If anyone has any idea; please post here....

Here is what i found::
Typical of Shankar, the director is not prepared to say much about the film at this point. However, it is known that the film will be very youthful, almost teeny-bop, in content, with the majority of the cast being in the 16-23 age group.
Shankar, apparently, has decided to cast all new faces in his film – and the younger the better.
In fact, a mention in various Tamil periodicals, and an accompanying advertisement to the effect that Shankar was looking for new faces, has created a headache of sorts for the producers. Curriculums vitae have been pouring in to the Surya Movies post box ever since the ad and the story ran in the vernacular press – and last heard from, the flood shows no signs of abating.
Curiously enough, the ad appears – thanks to emails and discussion groups – to have reached an audience abroad as well, with the result that newer batches of applications have US, British and suchlike stamps on them, which suits the producer and director fine since the film does incorporate a lot of NRI faces.
For Shankar, Boys will be a return to romance after Kadhalan, and to comedy after the Aishwarya Rai-Prashanth starrer Jeans. Though the film will feature fresh – and ergo, inexpensive – faces, Shankar maintains that the film will be typical of his style, which means lavish budgets, and expensive production values.

Cheenu...i think u r kinda out of information here...
Shankar is known for his lavish budget movies....
what u see in a song, is just a picturisation...that is what it requires...as the backdrop is village..
dun tell me u..want every thalatte, opparai, teru kuttu to be picturised in Australia, New Zealand or so.....yenda ippadi iruke...
in ur context...Manirathnam would be cheaper director...as he never went abroad for song picturisation..at all

Just like Kannathil Muththamittal and Kaadhal Virus, which took ages to release. Boyz will most likely collapse from the weight of huge expectations.

Dont' forget what happened to Titanic and James Cameron. Every critic were conmdening it for the over budget(US$200 million)and his much overdue schedule. In the end, Titanic became the no.1 movie(box office collection) of all time.

'Boys' songs ready!
Watch out for the film in July.
Finally, AR Rehman has completed the music for 'Boys'.
Shankar's previous film 'Mudhalvan' was released in 1999. He then went away to direct the film in Hindi. With that began his long absence.
'Naayak' flopped in Hindi. To make good the losses, he decided to make a film for AM Rathnam. This has resulted in 'Boys' with rank new comers. The film has been in the making for a year now.
Rehman's shift to London and the fact that the film had six songs had delayed the film. Rehman has competed his songs. The usual Shankar- Rehman- Vairamuthu-Vaali combo has been ruling the industry. This time, Vairamuthu and Vaali are out. Young lyricists have replaced them. Singers are young too. AR Rehman has done everything that he could possibly do to infuse young blood into the film.
Shankar's office people say that the film's cassette will be released in the month of June. The film itself will be out in the last week or June or the first week of July. http://www.cinesouth.com/masala/hotnews/02062003-5.shtml

So Paran,
Shankar's greatness lies in going abroad to shoot songs?
In that case, even Mike Mohan is a great director. He went to Australia to shoot his stupid movie that no one, not even his family members, ever saw.
Your pathetic logic of calling MR cheap, is just that. Pathetic.
As for Boys, ARR is due for another bolckbuster album. But all of ARR/Shankar movies have had very good music. Hope Boys will be another on the same line.

After all the bashing I have received here on TFM about my critique of IR I began to doubt my judgement. Maybe I am wrong - all these people can't be wrong after all? So I spent the last ten days listening to about 3 hours of music everyday - TFM, jazz, WCM, movie themes etc. While I agree that music is a personal choice I can also see what being a fan(atic) is all about. There is no chance of getting IR fans on this site to critically review his music especially his BGM. Any criticism of IR is automatically seen as a condemnation rather than an examination. For all it's worth I stand entirely by all that I have said about IR. His BGM output although vast is overdone and immature, and will not stand comparison with even a 'simple' movie score like that of "Cider House Rules". I am utterly surprised at the unwilliingness of many to concede the ease with which ARR has brought back improvisation to Indian TFM and the quantum leap in musicianship that is clearly recognisable in his music. The criticism of ARR seems to be so much of sour grapes. The very thought that someone can actually compete with IR and rock the entire nation with a single number at a time appears deeply galling to more than a few out here. The problem with some of us is that we either convert our artistes into idols and worship them or take great delight in bringing them down and reducing them to nothing. The art of critical examination is alien to us. The increasing 'electronicisation' of IR's FM is lost on many of us (in the use of synth rhythms IR is now one with everyone else). In Ramana barring that one sterling number "oorukkoru" (which BTW is unique in Indian FM - NO ONE has ever penned such a caustic song indeed IR must have written it himself) the rest are clearly from a tired MD far past his prime. Instead of turning his arm to compose common place FM IR shd devote himself to truly divine music where he is destined to write golden verses on the firmamant of time. In the meanwhile FM can be safely left to more adroit MDs such as ARR and the new crop.

pennathur, Well said.
I agree.
The other thing that I propose for IR to do (while he has lots of free time) is to re-master all his old compositions in better quality audio/stereo/dolby/DTS (whatever) to be more pleasing and ear friendly... his old songs and tunes are great and it well past this current time and I can no where get good quality, "chinna pura ondru" or "idhu oru pon maalai pozhuthu"...
If those are re mastered and sold, I bet they will sell like hot cakes..

"His BGM output although vast is overdone and immature"
Is this a condemnation or an examination of IR Music?. It doesnt sound like examination. BTW, ramana score was highly appreciated by vikatan, kumudam and all other magazines too.
