Remember the Music Director trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, the music directors of Kamal Hassan's Alavandhaan. They seem to be missing in the Tamil scene for the last 2 years and they are doing really good in the Hindi field. They have given solid musical hits in Hindi such as; Mission Kashmir, Dil Chahtha Hai. I think they can be brought to the Tamil films again. I feel they are definitely better than Deva and a few others. I think they are the best as far as Hindi Film Music goes after A R Rahman.
I would like healthy comments who listen to Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and have a fair knowledge of Hindi Film Industry.

Ehsaan, congrats. Your continued participation here is definitely laudable. Have a couple of questions.
1.How do you guys go about communicating the nuances of the tune to the main singer? Does ShankarM handle it or do you just use keyboard tracks? Do you compose for pre-written lyrics?
2. On an average, how long does composing the base tune take as compared to the time it takes for composing the instrumental parts/orchestration etc.?

Hi Vijay thank God for Shankar being a good singer he perfectly explains the vocals to the singer. We compose on pre written lyrics too. Sometimes a tune comes in 5 mins sometimes u are stuck for days.

Selrocks the BGM is done by someone else

hello ahsaanji..
Why is that in many movies, where u score for the songs, the bgm is don by some1else??...
I mean, your bgm was damn good in movies like Dil Chahtha Hai.
You are not an 'upcoming' group anymore...you have delivered so many hits, and i think you should start making it a point to score bgm for the movies. To me, BGM is the area where the music director is tested a lot...more than the songs...it is the bgm that adds life to a movie.
what do you say about this?

Adding to what 'selrocks' said,
I am sure, U guys wud have spent a lot of time in getting to the mood of the film and providing songs pertaining to that mood. So it shud be most appropriate for u guys to do the BGM stuff also. Isnt it? Are u guys for some unknown reason, opting out of doing the bgm or are u guys asked to compose the songs only? Anyway, u shud get urself full fledgely involved in the bgms also and enthrall all of us.
Btw, the bgm in aalavanthaan was quite good. I know it was done by the 'Late' Mahesh. Anyhow, just wanted to mention it. The mood created by the songs was not at all lost by the bgm in that case.

i think this should be a question the producers must answer because background music in bollywood is something producers dont care about except a few good ones. Besides they want to get it done cheap.
We are happy with what we have done in KHNh , Dil Chahta Hai and Mission Kashmir

yeah...definitely, your bgms in the movies were too good, and thats why, I was surprised as to why some1 else does the bgm for your movies.
anyway, juz a question....I think the very few producers/directors have got the 'best' of you...like Farhan Akhthar, Kamal Hassan and Vidhu Vinod Chopra. I mean...about getting music thats not stereotypical, yet brilliant. Thats because, all the projects were big ones, unique ones and challenging stuff. So, among your future releases, which do you think is the most challenging, when it comes to composing. In which album in the future can we expect a DIFERENT score, with a diff. sound??
plz do reply..and PLZZZZ do tell us when it'll get released!!!
MUSIC HEALS!
(btw guyz, arr's meenaxi is a SURE national award winner....listen to it and you'll know!)

So how do u feel like Ehsaan when someone else who does the bgm uses tunes from ur songs? Does it not irritate to the extreme? Cant u take a stand saying that either u urself do the bgm also else ask them to compose original bgms instead of re-using ur tunes?
Btw Selrocks, I just happened to hear one song from Meenaxi 'Dhuan Dhuan'. WOW!!! Superb. It sounded magical.

Hey Guys,
Just a caution. Lets not dwell much into religions and other sentimental topics. We might offend someone unintentionally which might lead to undesirable friction.
