Hi all,
can somebody post some info abt this movie?. Atleast give us some info whether this movie is being currently under production or not. cos, most of the movies stop with the release of songs. and currently with kasthuri raja facing a lot of problems, we need more info on this movie. Atleast the efforts fo the young genius should not get wasted.
All the songs are excellent.
hope for the best

Its directed by very talented new face
Kasturi Rajas son who is only 21 is directing this movie thats explains why the song is very youthful and fresh.
This guys seems to have some good sense of music going by the songs he got from YSR.
Lets wish this youngster all the best for his maiden movie.
I am sure it will be a hit !!
Wonder why Dheena dirs not able to get this kind of melody from YSR!!

Average album by YSR. Heavily inspired by ARR in style. For example, Venkat Prabhu's singing in "Neruppu Koothadikudhu" is similar to the male voice in "tirupachi arivala" from Tajmahal.
Theenda theenda reminds one of azhagana rakshasiye. Very average melody anyway. This trend of pop presentation of carnatic ragams is sickening to say the least.
YSR's tamizh pronunciation is pathetic. He should have asked HH or some singer with a deep voice to sing "ithu kadhala".
When will our MDs resort to classical music - Indian or Western? Will we ever get an album like Salangai Oli again?

Observer, your comments prove that the album is going to be a definite hit. The album meets all the required standards (which you have mentioned above) of Tamil Music!!

Mr. Observer
Try to understand one fact When we have fans for Salangai Oli again then we will also have that kind of music again.
now Britney Spears,Nsync kinds only rule so you cant expect much, all movies are directed at youngsters and so youth subject so music has to be that way.
The bottom line is 'You are getting Old'!!

Review of Thulluvathoa Illamai
1. Idhu Kaadhalaa—Exciting composition, a good fast-tempo song. Unfortunately, the father’s sins are visiting us through the son too. Yes, Yuvan has sung the song. He sounds like a combination of Pavatharini and Ila Arun, a fragile, effeminate shriek that grates the ears.
2. Kaattrukku Kattrukku—This is a jambalaya of rhythm sounds. For one instance it sounds like a bangra, the next instant it sounds like the “melam bit” from “Kaasumaela Kasuvandhu” and the next it sounds like an aerobic workout. The lyrics are hardly recognizable and what little you recognize, you wish you didn’t. Harish, Harini, Febi, and Sunder rajan are all credited for singing; not one of them stands out. This is a national song—it can be translated in any language and be equally indecipherable, should be a big hit.
3. Kann Munney—An eve seducing ( if not teasing) song. Pretty enjoyable composition, very loose and stylish. The flute and melam transition about a third into the song is enjoyable. Lyrics are of course littered with gibberish English. If this were available as an instrumental, it would be more enjoyable. Yuvan and Timmy have sung this; somehow their singing blends into one and thankfully hides Yuvan’s singing talents.
4. Neruppu Koothadikkuthu—A female humming with a Chinese string sound in the background starts this song generating much interest. Then a rollicking drum-beat takes you into a traditional folk song. Very enjoyable folk drums with lovely urumi licks. Venkat Prabhu and Chitra Sivaraman have sung this. Chitra Sivaraman is a real good find. Venkat’s a very average singer. A more masculine voice would have taken this song quite far.
5. Theenda Theenda—This is a classical tune given the Western instrument treatment. Yuvan’s done a very good job of fusing the instruments—the thick bass drums and the mirudhangam reverberate well together. The interludes are also fresh. The electronic Veenai sound with beats is charming. Bombay Jayashree, if you can forgive her shivery Thamizh, does an amicable job. You can definitely understand the lyrics.
6. Theenda Theenda (duet)—This duet brings back the successful duo, Unnikrishnan and Bombay Jayashree of, “Narumugayae”. Basically a retread of the solo, but Unni lends a lot to the song.
7. Vayadhu Vaa Vaa—After torturing us for 4 songs with third-rate singers, this song is a redemption. Srinivas and Harini take care of this seductive, moody gem of a song very well. Yuvan shows his strength again in creative interludes and orchestration. Lyrics are unrepulsive to catchy.
Overall, I have the same complaint I had for Yuvan’s earlier, far superior “Poovellaam Kaettuppaar” and that is—lousy choice of singers. His strengths are found all over the soundtrack too, very unique pairing of instruments, creative bursts in interludes. For those who just want something interesting to blare in the background for a party this is a good pick. If you’re a discriminating listener, you will be upset over the near-miss of a remarkable soundtrack.
A plea to Yuvan: man, please smoke many thick cigars, read 20 pages of ThirukuraL really loud at dawn, gargle a mouthful of salt water and gravel, do whatever you must to break that voice. Or better yet, stop singing and introduce the many qualified, undiscovered male singers in your place. And one more thing, lyrics are good to have in a song; please find a lyricist who's not afraid of Thamizh.

there would be probably no other website in this world which would rate "Ullam Kollai poaguthae" as the best album except newtfmpage.com..and they continue their blind support to YSR after IR..
this rating however it works..."SUCKS"

but definitely iam in a lot of vethanai..
i expected lot from YSR after "Dheena"...
but the worst part is people praise MDs based on their previous performances and not the current one..

Nice to read you review. I was wondering about Kanmunne song. According to you, "Lyrics are of course littered with gibberish English". Well i listened to the song. I could come up with 4 english words, which come in pairs. "Fifteen - Sixteen" and then "Color Colora".
Nice Try...

Well, if you think only old people feel the way I do, go talk to some one from SPICMACAY. BTW, I'm 23 years old - I don't know if that qualifies me as old ;)
Coming to the point, I think audiences will be receptive of good classical music even today - its just an illusion that pop music alone succeeds. IR and family also seem to be taken in by this phantom menace.
Pop music for *a* movie is fine, not for *all* movies!

Mr. Observer
you should understand film music is no place to argue about classical music.
If you say classical music it has it own strict grammar and approach, whereas film music is different it goes by mood, situation etc.
One cannont some classical in film music just for a rare exceptions like 'observer' its aimed at a mass audience now depending on each MD they create their niche and following.
This is the success and talent of MD comes thats how ARR carved a niche that changed everything.
No real talented musicians stays with tunneled eye vision they all evolve, thats a sign of real muscians example is Madonna even today she gives brits run for their money.
Some of these so called classical rasikas should not turn to film music for classical they should stick to their Chembais,MLVs.
Times change peoples taste change may be after somtime classical will remerge till that time..
these things will happen if you dont like thats ur problem, but dont justify as the album suc!!ks and its aimed at young mass audience guys observers doesnt count as they are very handful ok
Peace
PS most of people when critise they see only at their point of view
I am classical trained singer and Veena player
and I also compose my own songs
so when replying spare me the lecture
Thanks

UV: cool down. My arguments are not meant to offend anyone. Why do you take it so personally?
My point is this: variety is the spice of life, and so should be the spice of tfm as well. There is little variety now in TFM - nothing other than pop music, in particular, no classical music.
