6 Songs : Mind Blowing!!

Simply mind-blowing
November 20
Ajay Devgan and Vivek Oberoi can’t stop raving about the songs of Mani Ratnam’s Yuva. “A.R. Rahman and Mani Sir and dynamite together,” says Vivek on the sets of Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria’s Masti, and adds, “The six songs Rahman has recorded for the film are mind-blowing.”
Ajay Devgan, his co-star in Yuva and Masti, uses the same words to describe them. Incidentally, when the film was launched earlier this year, Mani Ratnam had decided not to have a single song in it.
Vivek also feels that Abhishek Bachchan’s is the best role and best performance in the film. “That guy’s career will take off in a big way after Yuva,” predicts Vivek.

5. Nenjam Ellam
I was wondering what Rahman's upto here, w/ Adnan in the credits. Adnan begins w/ his trademark half-scream-half-yodel. Sujatha takes over. God, how I've missed her voice. Inspite of being the second "melody" in the film, it doesnt have Rahman's slow piano bits, nor Naveen's flute. It makes up w/ a very brisk rhythm, and funky sounds here and there. (No I don't mean Adnan!) :)
The interludes too flow w/ the pace. Adnan sings the whole second stanza. He's improved a great deal! He doesnt have Rahman singing in another layer like he had in Boom Boom. The beats and strings in the second interlude are brilliant. Sujatha continues in style.
The song ends w/ both of them singing a couple of lines over and over again.
Very Catchy.. along w/ Sandai Kozhi, should hope to satisfy ppl who are very choosy about Rahman's melodies.
Then comes the song that's going to become an absolute rage in discotheques and at home alike.
6. Fanaah
No. it isn't "Pannaal" :) I guess fanaah's a sufi word.
When i first read the lyrics around a month back, I had no clue how Rahman could actually create a tune for this. He surprises everybody by going about it differently and creating a tune "around" the lyrics!
Rahman had experimented w/ trance in Kadhal Virus and Tehzeeb. He takes it to a different plane in this song! And he's done an amazing job w/ the singing too. His voice sounds different again!
Shalini Singh gets her first song w/ Rahman. She doesnt have a lot to "sing" anyways. Jus rapping and chanting. She does it w/ finesse.
Brilliant beats, Exotic strings, Energetic singing.. this song's going to be on the lips of every young listener.
At exactly 2:00 minutes, Vairamuthu's job is done! It's all upto Rahman to carry the song for another 2 and a half minutes!
He does it w/ absolute flair w/ his alaaps. Shalini's left singing her lines, but it's Rahman who steals the show.
one word (Though I tend to overuse it, this is the song that deserves the word) - BRILLIANT!
Trust Mani Ratnam to bring out Rahman's creative genius. This album could well go on to rock India! I've always felt a few ARRFs tend to go overboard w/ praises for Rahman. But I dont feel the least bit apologetic for doing it here. Awesome.
Sorry about this "essay"! I couldnt resist. :)
The album clicks instantly w/ young folx, and takes a little time to rev up for the err.. not as young ones! ;)

A big salute to ARR. Man this is mind blowing stuff from ARR. Highly energetic and highly innovative stuff .The music really rocks and those who think ARR is a bad singer please here this album and you are sure to change ur opinion. Experimentation again and again with pop, rock, blues, rap, reggae oriental,Hindustani, carnatic, new age etc, etc, etc. The film initially had no songs but ARR had come with an elevating music.ARR is keen to experiment on blues(KV,Iruvar,Good bye Nanba from AE etc etc) This album is a sure hit.A special one for MR and Sony. A must buy.All the songs are excellent.(except Sandai Khozhi-choice of singer).Expecting NEW on similar lines.
Note: HJ will take ages to compose like this.A clear demarcation between ARR and HJ

Why do u guys need to bring in HJ for everything?! He pales in comparison to Rahman. But that isnt reason enuf for every msg to drive home the same message. Please ppl, stop it! :)

Who is HJ? All he can do is TRY(underlined 5 times) and COMPOSE(while he is not busy cpoying) a song which rahman would have made a day after HE was born! Listen to 'Jana Gana Mana' and your life is redeemed of every crappy song you might have heard in your life. Purest music, perfect lyrics, voic of the god himself. The starting elec guitar remids me of Strings' Anjaane starting but God takes over from second no. 6. Please stop comparing and listen to AE another 100 times meanwhile.
We should consider ourself(all Indians) lucky tat he's still rocking Indian music by giving it his all. I cant beleive people say HJ and ARR on the same breath - ask HJ to come up with atleast a Sanshai Kozhi(which is supposed to be dull - that is a different matter!!) in the next 25 years and i will cut my ears!!!!

And I can't believe some people still got the cheek to compare ARR to IR. Please stop such sinuous acts.
Wait for ARR's composition cum music to mature in another 20 years and then we'll see whether he is up to mark to be compared to IR.

I am confused at the review of AE which is supposed to be a Tamil Film. The reviews read as if they are talking about MTV albums.
Lucky Ali, Adnan Sami are these singers possess heavenly voices! this is a disgrace. Only we ,TFM listeners tolerate this sheer nonsense. Will any Hindi fellow accept a tamilian voice despite , not too bad an accent. Udit murders tamil with impunity.Sukhwinder is a tamil killer with a 100 % nasal voice sans any melody.
It is high time we banished ARRs and VSs. We should start a movement in encouraging good talents/voices, first try local and use northern talents if only extra ordinary. As on date there is no northie singing in TFM who is a Rafi or kishore or Lata. Why undermine good talents like Harish, Madhu, and encourage Sukwinder/Udit/Luky ali. Even to day SPB has the most youthful & melodious voice; but he seldom sings.
This is our fate.

A.E cd is copy protected. It uses sony's key2audio copy protection technology. Illegal data tracks are present to confuse data reading deviced such as computer cd rom. I used 312studios cdxrescue utility to extract the songs

A very ordinary album IMO, and I think the Mani-ARR combo has failed big time (for the 1st time in their career together) with this album!!!
I'm waiting for the reviews of the Hindi version. Hope they don't shred it into pieces!
