I would like to find out more about Unnikrishnan.
I find him a very good singer and am in love with the song he sang with Bombay Jaishree for the movie "IRUVAR". Does anybody out there know more about him?

  He is a young carnatic vocalist. (This keralite sings telugu
  keerthanas in Madras sangeetha sabhas!!)
  S. Ramanathan was his guru.
  
  Was introduced by ARR in pavithra(uyirum neeye)
  and later sang in kaathalan(ennavale ennavale).
  I had been to one of his concerts after he sang few
  film songs. Couldn't find a seat! Avlo kootam.
  Films sure catapult an artist to fame.

  There was an interview with UK in the HIndu a few months back. It seems he got initiated into carnatic music only when he was 14. Until then he was interested only in cricket. He had most of his schooling done in Madras.

  This 'Iruvar' song is a good one. But when you record a song for period film (in the movie this song is sung when MGR was in the early stage of his career), you must pay attention to the singing style too. I find the lyrics to be in par with the times (i can start another topic on this) but not the singing style. It is not UK's fault; the MD or the Director should have paid a closer attention.

  UK was OK, Bombay Jayashri spoiled the song. My allegation holds true : Most of Carnatic singers don't care about the lyrics or even if they care they do not understand enough to sing it properly (based on Tamil songs)

  You are right. Unni got married a couple of years
  ago. Of course his voice was good in that song. But if you see the movie 'IRUVAR' this song is comes in the early stages of the hero's career (late 40's or early 50's ) and at that time the singing styles were totally different. for eg. TMS had the influence of Bagavadhar, PU chinnappa
  when he started his career.

  My best and favourite singer is Unnikrishnan. I like him so much as well as his all songs. He has a lovely voice and he is so cute.
  His wife name is Priya and he has two children(Vasudevkrishna and Uthara.)
