Tamil singers in TFM

  This topic is a result of a discussion I had with a friend some time back. It started out with Yesudoss' pronounciation. Then it digressed into tamizhians who have been/are famous singers in TFM. We could come up with surprisingly few:
  Sirkazhi; Tiruchi Loganathan; Deepan Chakravarthi; Malayasia Vasudevan; Surendar.
  On the distaff side it was even worse: Vani Jayaram; Uma Ramanan.
  None of these singers dominated the TFM scenario like TMS or SPB or Suseela. Why this dreath of truly great thamizh singers?
  Any thoughts on this?

  Come to think of it.. apart from Ilayaraaja, any great thamizh MD in TFM?

  G Ramanathan is a genius even though he did not score for many movies.
  TRRamamurthy of -MSV-Ramamoorthy was a Tamilian even though he did not have a great solo career.

  TMS is a not a tamilian by birth (belongs to
  Saurashtra community famous for Silk weaving)

  tms is a Sourashtrian and belongs to the native of Madurai, temple city, where lakhs of sourashtrians live.
