Since the ANdu Malar plans are well on their way in a separate thread, I'm sure it is OK to move on to the next discussion item for the entire team's input.
TFM CLUB AGENDA ITEM 2
As you may know from another thread, the TFM Group is looking to upgrade the TFM page to make it even better and have a TFM domain up and running. As usual, the Group is willing to put in the extensive time and effort involved, but they need about US$500 to complete the planned upgrades.
So far, we (my husband and I) have volunteered to pitch in. I've also identified some potential commercial sponsors and am pursuing them; but, as we all know, commercial sponsors bring in their own agendas too. Will any of the TFM'ites be interested in contributing financially toward the next generation TFM Page? Contributions are completely voluntary and need not be large (even a $10 contbn adds up).

aruLarasan is another volunteer who has made commitments to the TFM Group in this regard, and is extremely supportive of this idea.
(I don't know how to copy his response from the old thread to here, but just want to make sure he is included here.)
TFM Group:
How do you want to handle tallying up the totals so we know how far we are from our goal? This will be helpful to know if/when/how much we should tap into commercial sponsorships.
Also, when and where should we be sending the checks?

Contribution is fine// But some default amount has to be fixed, else, even one dollar is contribution. But that wouldnt help us//Say something like 5o usd// People can suggest other ways to augment funds in this regard besides sponsors, as I think you can take care of this area//
Why not form a committee now so that each one knows the task on hand?? Fix date/time for exchnge of developments? We can easily have a chat opened for this in tfmpage and chat in this regard on fixed schedules//

Since I am in the middle of a multi-million dollar business deal now, I won't be able to give you a clear-headed feedback right now. Pls do not take it as lack of communication--will respond to your specifics this week end; I'm sure you can bear with me till then. I had to skip anthakshari in TFM today, so you know how bad it is..:)))
As a general guideline for executing any project, the simplest structure and methods are the best as you well know.

Kanchana - I don't think it is necessary to do the pledging out in the open. Most people I know are modest about such things and do not want much publicity. Therefore the best thing is for the TFMP maintainers to give a regular postal address where all such contributions can be directed.
Gopal - contributions are voluntary and therefore should not have a fixed amount. Virallukke yeiththa veekam poal, yaar yaarukku yevvalavu mudiyumoa, athu mattum seiyettum.

Someone has to do the 'poonaikku mani kattuvadhu'. Gopal your suggestions for various teams that contribute to the magazine sounds good. This project should be spearheaded jointly by the Publisher and the Editor. As pointed out by NOV, the contribution should be voluntary.

Some banks charge a % if the sum is significant otherwise they charge a fixed amount as commision. That's why i suggested the one check idea. I don't know about the banking practices in Singapore. Also, if you are tied up with personal work I volunteer to do this.
