he is too good. His latest song Kaadhal Vandhucho in Yei nee romba azhaga irukka is too good. He handles pop, folk, classical with ease.

  I think one big asset of Shanker Mahadevan is his high pitch. It seems like his base pitch is much higher than any normal singer's. That way, he stands above the rest. And the best part is: he can control and modulate his voice very well at those unimaginably high pitches without sounding terrible.

  yes kaumudi, unlike other signers, who want to show off at high pitches with their false voice, SM sounds very good. His clarity in sangadhees are too good. After Varaga Nadhi karai oram, and thaniye thanan thaniye, this kaadhal vandhucho song is too good from him. But, we should listen to him singing any pathos or melody...

  SM is good??? Ok. But When he comes to Melodies he may not be as good as what you think of him. Because.. he sings with an Open Voice. (Like people sing in Bajans) He has no proven experience in that area also. I I just could not digist him as a filmi singer... He is best suited for singing in Bajanai.

  yes Aparajithan.we will have to listen to his melody. I dont know if we can find another SPB.We are still in look out for SPB. But one thing with SM is his clarity and versatility. Notes are very clear. He knows what he sings. But, you should also consider his "thaniye thanan thaniye" in Rythm. Thatis not a bhajan feel like varaga nadhi karai oram -(Sangamam) or Kaadhal Vandhucho -(Yei nee romba...). Let us see how he performs in a melody... But all his songs till date are hit. That is plus point for him.
