Yuvan Shankar Raja

Yuvan started with some terrible numbers in Velai and aravindan but topped them all with a damn good score in Vasanth's Poovellam Kettupar even though the movie failed.

I gotto know that his next is the Ajit Kumar starrer 'Dina'. Any news on when its audio is coming out? Hows his music for the pop album Blast?

  I am sure he will definitely replace Deva/SAR/etc in a year. I hope after this he will become a firm competetor for ARR. Already ARR is in down fall. His latest Rythum is not moving well. The audio price is reduced to 35 rupees from 50, like kk. Alaibayuthe is not a big hit like Mudalvan. So, as per the latest growth of YSR, he will be No:1 soon. Above all most of the ARR fans likes him because they feel that he is following Rahman style. Let us see!!!

  Robin, who told you that rythm's price has been reduced? It still is Rs 50! If you are trying to trust a website like araamthinai, i pity you!
  
  A jaya TV special preview on Rythm had a senior HMV official claiming that over 6 lakh pieces of Rythm have already been sold and that HMV is planning a function to celebrate the success!
  
  And that music of AP and KK havent sold well is the joke of the year!

  'Bout the ARR news ... not true. Rhythm is doing really well. And AP and KK did extremely well.
  
  YSR .. great composer. I believe ARR even once commented on him saying he was a great composer. I liked Poovellam Kettupar .. and The Blast. In Aravindan one song appealed to me. Datz 'bout it.

  Karthik, I cross-checked the price in Trichy. It is reduced to 35 rupees. It is sure. The cassets are not moving well, that is why they came in Jaya TV for add. It is a add cum program. To attract the people, they made this program. To increase the sales, the HMV senior official might have told like this. And one more thing, I have lot of examples in the area of Trichy and Madurai to prove, how KK has performed. May be in cities like Chennai and Overseas, it may be a big hit. I don't deny this. But other areas, it is definitely not a hit as expected. If you need particulars or proof for this, I can provide. No issues. The price reduction has happened to KK. At that time I was chennai.

  I'm sure some of you may have heard YSR's Unakkaaga Ellam Unakkaaga that came after Poovellaam Kaettuppaar. Some nice songs and some catchy numbers in that movie. I somehow feel, YSR is not getting his due.

  DEAR DF'ERS yes ysr is not getting his due,am sure he is reaching towards his needed praise and acclaim.his songs in tv serials like
  1.perai solla vaa:vaa vaa-unnikrishnan.
  2.panchavarnakili: vaa vaa kiliyae-febi,harini.
  3.ananda bhavan:sellum varaiyo-unnimenon.
  4.ladies club-senior junior:senior-unnikrishnan and ysr.
  these songs are sure qualifiers for tfm no doubt,and these samples stand testimony to pure creativity in testing circumstances,in all capacity we df'ers shoul encourage youngsters like ysr who do not run after inspirations and international sound samples,i hope i have made this thread worth it,please post your views on these songs ,all these are songs of sun tv serials.

  IMHO, Yuvan much better songs than rhythm for previous vasanth movie 'poovellam kettupar'. Each song was different. Though opinions may vary, does rythAm has a better song than 'irava pagala'??.

  I guess we don't need to compare Yuvan and ARR. One is a budding musician and the other is an established music director. Also, can't we have different artists co-exist at the same time ? One wonders why we need to have just one. Why not many ? Wouldn't that be better. To have different shades is so rich than having just one. I guess we need to go from the "one music director rules the industry" attitude to the attitude that "all good music directors are welcome" Just my two cents. Don't mean to offend anyone.

  Yuvan is yuvan (Baby!). There is no comparison of YSR with ARR. ARR has reached his height far above the current MDs including YSRs father. Let this forum discuss what YSR needs to acheive his fathers and ARRs height. Comparison of this child MD with great masters of tfm (that too with ARR doing internationally excellent), is unnecessary in this forum.
  
  Mottai should have sportingly approached Pennathurs statement which was a reply for an earlier posting of comparison.

  1. YSR has surpassed ARR. He is better.
  
  2. Poovellam Ketuppar is better than Rythm.
  
  3. Rythm is not doing well and KK and AP are flop.
  
  Oh God.. I could not laugh anymore.
  Lets discuss. Lets not make such jokes (like the ones that come in tamil dailies)
  
  If you can compare then compare YSR with KR. Kudumba thagararu ayidum. That will be great.
  
  One last point.
  Let YSR get a quality film and then let him score music for that.
  
  Let him first prove that he is a son of a great composer.

  I managed to hear Thulluvatho Ilamai after reading the general comments on this album by the young raja. What a great achievement this guy has done to produce one of the most stunning albums in the history of TFM. This album has it all. Great music, melody and a wonderful new surprise in the track of "Ithu Kaathala". The beats to this song are like none i have heard before and the intro to this song really makes you sit up and listen. This is a great album and i hope that Selvaraghavan can produce a film that is going to live up to the standards of this album. Definately, we can see who is going to be the replacement for ARR in the next few years. Yuvan has all that ARR has, as well as that little something extra that will take him further.
  I will post a more detailed review after hearing this album few more times. I would give it a rating of 11/10
