Niram pirithu is just too good to be missed by any connoisseur of IR's interludes. It just tells me what IR has in store for us inspite of his commercial breakdown. Wonderful orchestration !! I am satisfied !! Thx a lot GS. I can imagine the joy you would have attained when you would have heard it on a CD.
But my only lament is that the tune is not complicated and is easily hummable. It is unlike the old songs like "NadhiyOram naaNal" or "chinna chinna vaNNakkuyil" which had a complicated melodic structured. Of late, IMO IR is just experimenting too much with orchestration and with the tune much. Anyway simplicity does not allow me to overlook this song. If the film is a hit so will be this song.

You are most welcome. This song alone will be all time great works of Raja like "Manjal Veiyi" from Nandu or "Anandha Ragam" from Panneer Pushpangall. Sujatha should really be lucky to get a chance to sing this nice number and she is too good in this song.

niram piriththup paarththEn waltzes its way to glory. vintage IR stuff!
if i am right, this is only the second time IR is trying something similar to this. the earlier one is "sollaadha raagangaL ennenna sollaadha thaaLangaL ennenna" from mahanadhi. one can see lots of similarities between these two songs. that song had some good violin interludes though. this one has a simple structure and a good flow.
my only crib is the indifferent singing (sujatha?). EdhO kadanEnnu paadara maadhiri irukku.

niram piriththu pArththEn, i am listening to the song as i write. good composition. i especially like the unIR-ish beginning - the piano roll followed the vocal, string and flute combo. very different from the recent IR stuff. the piano arpeggiation continues in the charaNam and sounds very good.
ms,
there is nothing wrong in a song being simple and hummable. saint saens (who said of himself that "he composed music as an apple tree produces apples") says that if you couldn't appreciate a simple chord progression you are not a good musician!
Omigod, eventho' the second interlude begins with the boring percussion it swiftly changes and becomes beautiful. good song.
thanks a lot suresh

bb,
enna ippadi solliteenga? I just love Sujatha's rendition of this more than exemplary composition of IR. One perfect song after a l...ong time. She has sung with lot of jeevan, especially when the charanam ends, 'parendhaen, virindhaen, unn aasayail, kareindhaen, ureindhaen unn kaadhalil o.o.o.... simply superb!
Indha songkaagavey indha album vaangalaam. Matha paatilellam ovvoru vidhathil sodhappal theriyudhu.
IMHO.

G.Suresh,
Thanks for the TIME album.Could you add rest of the songs also?
I am begining to accept the "ramiy records" voice inbetween the songs (from the another site) also as a part of the song.
It would be much more helpful if the song is uninterrupted.

I think the collection of songs that you have is one of the best in the world for ilayaraja. I got some rare songs like Idhayame from Adhuthathu Albert, and Then poove poove of Anbulla rajnikanth. I think IR of that time is highly impeccable under any factor.

Guys,
The background score for "Mugam" by
Gnana.Rajasekaran is excellent. The movie
was shown in suntv on 24-Oct.
IR had used some typical "KaaLi Koil Pujai" type
music whenever Nasser feels bad about his 'mugam'.
Also the bgm is superb in many places ensuring
that the movie is not the regular art movie type,
this movie is going to pick up many awards.!!

Guys:
I just saw Mugam titles(I have the video cassette @ home, will be seeing it mostly tonite). The titles music is simply superb, there is a solo violin which comes throughout with mirudangam coming inbetween. I will TRY recording the BGM as soon as possible and send it to rex(this time for sure you will get it), so that he can encode it for you all.
