  I bought the cassette Manam virumbuthe unnai when i was in trichy. It is a waste of money. IR has failed once again to meet to the expectations. I think IR also is running out of stuff. It is sad , but true. I am much more satisfied with the recording i got done with those IR melodies of 80's . Truly remarkable!

  The songs 'etho etho' and 'Vanathil Adum' from MVU are really excellent. 'Kootukuyil' and 'Ilavnirkala punjami' are also good. Other songs are ok. Definitely, it is not a waste, IMO.

  MVU is definitely not bad. It is a decent album. All the songs are melodious. An additional fast-paced, catchy song (like thayya thayya) would have made this a block buster (IMO). Ilavenirkala Punjami by Hariharan is great. Plus point: IR hasn't sung any song :))

  Thanx Vijay for letting us know the site where Guru songs are available. I was absolutely mesmerised by IR's notes.
  
  I have been longing for such percussion based songs from him for years. This album is way, way above his recent Tamil hitalbums, for sure. Another noteworthy album is "Yaathramozhi" you can listen in mail-bag.com.

  The basic rhythm of the song "Ilavnirkala punjami"
  from Manam Virumbuthe Unnai sounds almost like
  "Mustafa Mustafa" song from Kaadal Desam. Is it just co-incidence? or is my observation wrong. anybody who has listened to this song,. let me know your opinion. I am a hard core IR fan. I am unable to digest things like these.

  'ilaiya nilavae ilaiya nilavae'(Srini,Bhava) from Ponnu veetukkaaran is a beautiful melody by
  IR with nice lyrics(PB?).The song could have been more pleasing if it had been sung by
  seasoned singers(Srini and Bhava both struggle at high scales)
  
  'thai maadham'another pleasing song by IR from 'URavugal'(actor info???)-This song is sung
  by 2 newcomers Siva and Nirmala(nirmalas voice is very similar to Malayalam singer
  Arundhatis)
  
  Its good to see that IR is using more newcomers but let him not forgot the oldies too.

  MVU is supposedly available at vista (http://www.vmo.com). I ordered it from them but havent received it yet.
  
  PG usually gets these CDs quickly, being in NJ.We should check with him.

  I recently went to India for 2 weeks and I got MVU and poNNu veetukkAran (new releases) + one ennaruhil nee irundhAl & kavidhai pAda nEramillai + other IR stuff missing in my collection. I also got 2 MMDD cassettes. Recorded 10 cassettes full of old IR songs (many of which I already have). (I heard thEvan thiruchabai malargaLE for the first time and I can't get it out of my head - (not that I want to)). Recording is alive and flourishing in Madras. (I recorded from Stereo House). Most recording is lousy - I need to get a good equalizer to listen to them.
  
  poNNu veetukkAran is OK-good. Raja has recycled the tune of 'unnAl mudiyum thambi' from the movie of the same name in one ff the songs.
  
  MVU is good - Raja has obviously been influenced by the mega-success of KM. The style is of the same nature.
  
  I shall try to review both this weekend.

  even i recorded some old IR songs in trichy. its amazing that the shop had CD's for some remote films like karumbu vil etc. but some of the CD's like ninaivellam nithya was not there. the ones which i recorded from LP has this irritating background noise. i thought madras shops would have a better collection of CD's.
  
  anyway, pl. give us all a really critical, unbiased review of the new IR albums. from what we heard from observer, MVU is not impressive.
  ponnuveetukaaran is also not a good buy according to some.

  EXACTLY! what a miss by me! i was under the strong impression that supersonic would not have EVK! he had every film which i wanted. i should have atleast asked him about EVK! anyway next time in trichy i would go all out for it!
  actually u have made me a little bit nostalgic!
  
  if he gets CD's for films like ninaivellam nithya, tik tik tik etc. it would be great! i have to now meddle with my graphic equaliser to reduce the background noise.
  
  sorry for the digression, but i couldn't help it!
  
  shankar, which song do u recommend from EVK?
  
  iam also eagerly waiting for reviews of desiya geetham, MVU etc from anyone.

  I have listened to MVU n times. Three songs carry Raaja's stamp. Some interludes are blowing you off! Only Raaja can give. A real good collection!!
  
  One song in ponnu veettukkAran sung by IR is great (nandhavanakkuyil). I dont have words to express how I feel listening to that song!! He picks the right stuff and the great one too for his own rendering. Hats off Raaja!!

  i got this unbelievable news from this week junior vikatan.,
  N.Vishnuram-Producer of well known 'Ullaththai allithaa' is gonna produce a film with karthik., the director is r.kannan(director of rasayya) IR is the MD & vishnuram is trying hard to bring Vairamuthu back to IR group.,
  the news gives a strong impression that almost his work is complete & VM will write for the film.,
  I can't beleive this., can some of u in Tamilnadu give exact details.,
