VKR Passes Away

Another great figure in the firmament of the golden age of Tamil films passes away! Miss this omnipresent stalwart comedian, villain and family man of the easy going Tamil films of yesteryears. My condolences...

  His other famous line was 'enda mundam...' :))
  Some of his good characters I remember now offhand are - Varusham 16, arangetra velai, agni* (latchumipathyyy!)

  Really sad to hear of his passing away! He was a father figure in tamil movies for a long long time. In his later days a great supporting actor who did his roles with effortless ease. I especially remember his role in Rettai Vaal Kuruvi.

  his first movie was 'nam iruvar' and last movie was 'university'. his punch dialogues 'adhu kedakkattum kaludhai' will be missed.

  what would have been amajor handicap to 99 out of 100 actors was VKR's major strength. VKR was always VKR. you give him whatever role his personality would comre though. But boy did we love it. I am ( should it be was?) the ( unofficial)President of the (unofficial ) Akila ulaga VKR rasigar manram! But I have a stong suspicion that i was not the only one. Mani Rathnam & faazil for two were I think his fans!
  He was one man who could skate on the thinnest ice of vulgarity & come thro with flying colours. In VKR's mouth the sex innuendos became healthy barbs.

  'Rudhrathandavam' was originally an emergency / 20 point programme propaganda play by VKR. Within a short span of time, it was made into a film also. Quite apart from this, VKR's brother had a film production unit which produced films like 'Selvam', 'Ponnaana vaazhvu' etc.,

  A true loss to Tamil film industry,
  VKR was one of my favourite comedian/charecter artists of all time next to Nagesh and Tengai Srini.
  How can we forget his very peculiar dialogue delivery
  
  " Thirupadhi le mattum kaaka enna govinda govinda nna katthum?" Varusham 16 ( also the hilarious Jan/vkr dan dan dan dan dandan dan dan dan)

  Hi, I am going to miss him very much. His comedy is great in Aaanpaavam. Another comedy sequence with Janaga Raj "en pendatti poyeetta.........". Simply love this man. My deepest condolences . Please someone write the movie name. I want to watch that movie this week. Thanks, vinu.

  VKR is the a versatile actor, esp in comedies...
  
  how can someone forget his Ettapa role in Veerapandiya Katta Bomman?
  
  and his comedy in Arangetra Velai is marvellous. He plays Nambirajan who owns a drama company Shakti Naadaga Sabha. VKR, Prabhu and Revathi causes major comedy havoc in the movie and it has one memorable song "aagaya vennilavae"..

  Just happened to read Mrs.VKR's interview in Kumudam- she has been interviewed a few days before his demise- she expresses a hope that he will pull through :-(( Sad that fate willed otherwise.

  Are there any songs picturised on VKR?
  
  I remember one song in 'poo pootha nandhavanam'. MV gave voice for him( a duet with SJ(for saritha)).

  vkr was the senior most artist in TFM - there is no second opinion.
  
  if we see the title of 'Raaja Paarvai', vkr names comes second in the actors' list (first is lv prasad), then the name of kamala haasan comes in the third.
  
  but, vkr(like other comedians) also could not prevent himself from not acting in vulgar scenes, double meaning dialogues.
  
  example : vasantha maaligai, agni natchchathiram, etc.
  
  his low voice comedy is always good - in the latter part his career, vkr was making loud noice rather than making a real comedy.
