Ilaiyaraja's Orchestration

Dear newtfmpage ppl, I would like to start a new discussion on the topic of Ilaiyaraja's Orchestration ... How good is IR in this? I want to unearth IRs best-orchestrated pieces, both in BGM and his songs. How would orchestration 'affect' a common man who knows very less or nothing about it? How much influence did IRs orchestration carry w.r.t carrying the mood of the song?

and for godssake, no bashing anybody please ... let this DF be used a place for some good discussion.

  Hi, I dont know if my posting relates to the topic, but I want to mention about the mellifluous BGM pieces in the Telugu movie Swathimuthyam *ing Kamal, Radhika which was a musical, commercial hit.
  I wonder if Raaja had used any song bits of a movie in an other movie. But in this movie, Raaja had used a song bit of his Telugu movie (Vamsi's Kanaka Mahalakshmi Recording Dance Troup) > during all those emotional scenes containing Kamal and Radhika. This is really surprising and I noticed this only Yesterday on ETV. Has Raaja used his other songs as BGM bits in his other movies?
