P SUSHEELA.. Who is the Inspiration for may singers... I feel she's the Only singer who dominated.. Rather ruled the TFM for more than 40 yrs.. And even now her voice is Very Sweet(god's Gift)..

  PS the first female singer to bag National award when award was introduced for this category in 1967 for tamil film Uyarndha manithan....Again in 1971 for Savale Samali....
  1976 for Siri Siri Muvva,1981 MLA Ezhukundalavadu,1983 Mega Sandesam...all Telugu..
  From 1952 to 1990 for 39 years she was NO1 singer in Telgu and in tamil 1955 to 1980 for 26 years she was number 1....Literal Monopoly during her Peak period...

  PS now a days when she starts the song her voice sounds the same old P.Suseela....But in charanams she is stuggling because of age....Still her present day voice is far better than many new singers....Iam reffering to her stage shows as she is not getting chances to sing on big screen....

  Susheela50 was a Grand Event With more than 50000 audience in open air stadium....She sang well but in TV recording it may not sound perfect...In open air People just enjoyed her music For Tamils she still seems to be a hot/heart favourite.

  Was fortunate to attend the Susheela50 programme. A glowing tribute to the Music Legend. SPB & SJ paid their respects by prostrating, a gesture one needs to learsn. While SPB requested the governments to honours with Padma Vibushan or Bharat Ratna,SJ wished her peer 100 years of singing and praised PS's voice as Kenjinaalum kidaikaatha arbutha kural.GA recalled their family's association with PS and said that the first picture of a film pesonality to enter their abode was that of PS.TMS blessed PS long life.Many more personalities and several of her fans offered their tributes in person. she was accessible and very warm.
  This programme has been well covered by all the magazines, newspapers viz. Hindu, Indian Express, Dinamani, Anandavikatan etc.
  This must be the beginning of several celebrations to happen this year.

  A slight digression:
  
  These (half baked) / (talented but discourteous) North Indian singers should learn how singers down south respect each other. SPB, SJ, PS, KJY are all great not only because they are supremely talented but ALSO because they treat each other with great respect.
  
  OTOH, Kumar Sanu declares in a magazine that he is the greatest and Udit is cheap. Udit retaliates with an equally stupid statement. huh..

  I understand P.SUSHEELA50 was organised by Susheela,s fans and RAJ T.V. Very soon Filmindustry is planning for anither Major Show to formally thank her for entertaining on screen for 45 years(1951 to 1996)and then on stage and small screen till now....Vairamuthu,Vijayakanthand M.D. Ganesh are co ordinators for Tamil film Industries Special function to honour Susheela.

  It is very unfortunate that P. Susheela was not honoured with padmavibhushan etc. Recently lata mangeshkar was honoured with Bharatratna. why not south indian singers? Inspite of great achievements by PS, it is really surprises everybody that she did not get an award from our gov'nt.Thanks for giving details about the programme.

  PS has been honoured with "BHEESHMA" award by an Organisation of Smt Latha Rajinikant and Parthipan, in the presence of MSV, Deva, Vallee and others, in this Golden Jubilee Year.Am sure many will follow.

  DAYA FOUNDATION of Latha Rajinikanth arraned a function last Saturday to launc her Album SAARAL and felicitate PS for her 50 years career...Grand event where MSV,DEVA AND VAALI..paid rich complements to Susheela and the organisers conferer Bhishma title to P.   What a legendary singer she is. I have been listening to her for the last 25 years including her debut films during the early 50s. With great respects to her contemporaries in this field, I think she stands out as a unique singer both in quality and her singing style. A great mezzo-soprano who deserves Bharat Ratna, has not been recognized enough by the Indian Government. I think Tamil Nadu Government should create an award in her name to recognize good talent in playback singing. That would be a glowing tribute to her for being in the music industry for over well 50 years. Its hard to magine whether someone can remain that long. She is second to none after Lata.
