I had this question lingering ard my mind for quite some time.
If we take a look at DummX3, KathalaX2, Ullasam, Naam Iruvar Namakku Iruvar it has YSR's youthful touch in it. But at that point YSR havent make a name for himself yet or at least was not as successful as he is now. I really have a doubt that YSR had helped KR in composing those 4 albums. But lately KR's composition has more matured touch, and definitely not youthful as YSR's composition.
So who adopted whom? YSR adopted KR's style, or KR used YSR's help?
Please comment.

i think if u look at the type of movies which KR did then and now ull find ur answer.becuz Dummx3,KK,Ullasam,NINI required sum youthful touch to it.
i doubt either took any style from the other but maybe picked their own areas they prefered,so as not to be competition amongst each other?becuz we dont see IR doing either types of music either now...he has moved to more rustic pieces and situational based movies.

Piratheepan...
then why didn't KR repeat the style with 3 roses.
That's suppose to be a youthfull movie.
But was not anywhere near the first 4 albums mentioned.
Rite>?

KR has his own style, YSR has his own style. Nobody has adopted anything. KR is still not successful and YSR is.That is all.

I personally think KR is a level higher than YSR in terms of musical maturity, even though the current market is tilted towards YSR. AFAIK, KR was helping/ composing one songs in IR films like Ponnumani, Aatma and Paandian. YSR didnt have that previlege I presume.
The closest YSR came in terms of KR's style was in Poovellam Kettuppar. And after that, for some strange reason he started singning offkey in most of his films, much to my annoyance. He also probably is the first to compose completely westernised songs, with no shades of anything remotely Indian/ Tamil, if thats a good thing.

KarthikS,
YSR should not sing. I also agree. But regarding his musical maturity, some songs are really matured like in MP Yen Anbe Anbe and kannil Kanthame Vendame etc. Also in Pudukootailirunthu Saravanan Malargale has a matured orchestration.
He deliberately makes it immatured to give a different feel most times I guess. Otherwise one can't be doing it matured at times and immatured at other times.(for example the prelude of Vasiyakari song irritates me to the core while the tune is catchy)

on a serious note - KR is like Agarkar..... if he performs it will be a "match winning" effort.... but the problem is, that "performs" happens once in a while only :-(..... you need CONSISTENCY..... thats where YSR over took KR....

I feel KR is trying to adopt stuff from IR but YSR is trying to COPY from ARR
Thats what I read

xml...don't just hit me back coz..i have done that to u once.
Well i still think that these albums had the touch of both of the MD's I am referring too. Furthermore KR he himseld mentioned that when he and Maestro discusses abt a tune tonite, the next day YSR would be adding it to his composition..and when asked he would say "chumma oru jolly-ku thaan"....
i remember someone here have watched the same interview shown in Singapore i think beginning of this year.
so...what u say now?
Anyway 3(+1) MD's living under one roof...they will definitely suggest stuffs, or discuss at least if not helping each other (which i don't think would happen now)
:)

Paran,I know that KR and IR discuss work because KR often works on IR's movies due to his lack of movies.
However KR's comment during the interview was highly unnecessary. It showed his jealousy about YSR having more movies than him. If YSR sounds like ARR in his musaical style, but IR and KR sound alike, it is very doubtful that YSR copies what they discuss. As far as i know, they never discuss music together and I know this as I am a close friend of their relative.

Paran,
YSR hardly resembles IR in his music. At the same time he resembles rarely like ARR.(unlike HJ).
His inspirations and sources are different. While inheriting little from his father and ARR, he mainly depends upon on his creativity and other inspirations.
KR is obviously jealous of YSR. Even if what he has said has happned, will KR tells about his own brother knowing the consequence.
On the other hand KR is also very talented. I am surprised that he is not getting movies. May be attitude problem.

1.Please know of sure that KR is not jealous ..In the very same interview he has mentioned that he is very happy about YSR's succcess.
2.KR defintely has done bGM for YSR .Geethai is oen suchinstance where his name was mentioned in the title .
3.I feel KR adopted a style that will give more long lasting songs ....that is why it does not appeaal immeditaley ..good examples will be album and esp ragasiyamai which had 3 very nice songs ....

1. Just because KR says he is very happy about YSR's success, it does not mean he is. It is usual to see others being jealous of others doing well.
2. KR has done BGM for Geethai, but only due to time restrictions for YSR. It was generous on YSR's part to offer it to KR, just as IR offers at least a song from each of his movies to KR due to his lack of work.
3. KR does have his own style, but he is not getting movies due to his attitude. I have read on many occasions that he is not flexible and is often difficult and refuses to work with certain artists or writers,
