Hi,
Each and every time, when a new thread is open on IR or about his music, some group of people say, "why there's a need? It should be discussed in IR's new albums thread" And they advise Admin to close the thread!!! In some cases, Admin promptly did it. I am bit surprised on this. I cant understand one point, what's wrong in opening a new thread? Dont say, it occupies memory!!! When all other crazy threads are created did the admin not aware of this???
For example, There's a thread to discuss new albums of ARR but at the same time, There's a separate thread for BABA music review!!!!! Why nobody suggested to close that and it only happens to IR ALWAYS??!! I feel like TFM Admin itself is so biased against IR!!! I am not saying based on a particular event but after some sequence of events. They happily come up with Kaadhal Virus Review, BABA review in the first page. Why not SMK, Ramana and etc??!!
Are they trying to prove IR is no more in the field or by treating IR like this, they feel IR Fans lose interest and stop talking about his music or By shadowing out IR's work, they think that they can mask out the History???!!
I am not saying anything wrong here, i believe. This is what i felt on seeing the things going around. And reg the BABA thread, i have just taken it as an example, and i am not at all against ARR in any sense!!! No offense meant. AIMHO!!!

Saran,
I am not sure about Baba music thread as I am not interested in it.
But personally, I would appreciate it if all of Raja's new albums are discussed in this thread and this thread alone. That way, I don't have to waste time going through umpteen number of useless threads like 'insects in TFM' and 'ARR's BGM' :-)

Guys,
Reg VanaVille song in Ramana, it sounds like it is set in madhuvanthi . Can anyone pls confirm this. The Hariharan version has a opening hum ( Sadhana.? )that is awesome .. Incidentally listen to the opening chorus hum in "meendum meendum vaaa" in Vikram which is also set in Madhuvanthi i guess..
Great song and surprisingly I guess, all attention is on the BGM alone of Ramana !
Thanks
MSK

MSK:
I agree, great song, and so is "Meendum Meendum Vaa" - I think they are based on Dharmavathi (I guess Madhuvanthi may be very close to Dharmavathi).
Some other songs set in Dharmavathi to
my knowledge are
Konji Konji Alaigal Oda from Veera
song from Rosappo Ravikkaikari (awesome song,
forgot the opening line)
Ottagatha Kattikko from Gentleman
I think Hello my dear wrong number (old MSV song)

Other dharmavathy by IR are,

Natarajan Kudi Konda - Salangayil Oru Sangeetham
Anba Sumandhu Sumandhu - Ponnumani
Vaazhvae Maayama - Gayathri

Isairasigan,
Dharmavathy and Madhuvanthi are not same. You may say Madhuvanti is a derivative of Dharmavathy.
Dharmavathi - sampoorna swaras in both the arohanam and avarohanam.[DharmAvathi - | S R2 G2 M2 P D2 N3 S | S N3 D2 P M2 G2 R2 S]
Madhuvanthi - Rishabam and Dhaivatham (ri & dha) are omitted in arohanam and while all the seven notes (of dharmavathy scale) is present in the avarohanam.

The Rosappoo Ravikkaikaari song is 'EnnuLLE engO Engum Geetam' one of Vani Jayaram's best Tamil solos. It's set to Madhuvanti.
Nanda En nilA is another classic Madhuvanti.
Other examples of Dharmavathy & Gowri Manohari (the former's Ma1 equivalent) combos:
'Hey AyyAsAmi' (Varusham 16 - IR)
'kAdhal vAnoli (Album - KR)

Is 'raaththiri nEraththu poojaiyil' (oomai vizhigaL) also dharmaavathi? The beginning of saraNams in this song and in 'anba sumandhu sumandhu' sound very similar.

:-) MSK, u r welcome.
Doubter - regarding "Raathiri nerathu poojayil", will try and let you know my thought.
Philosopher & Peter Pan - "Ennullil" has MADHUVANTHI phrases. But the base is DHARMAVATHY. To be precise, it is a DHARMAVATHY raga song with detailed lectures on MADHUVANTHI, which is a derivative of former.

It is indeed DHARMAVATHY, with minor changes here & there to beautify. [Is the music by IR? I think it was Manoj Gyan]
