  Does this 'Others' list include you also? Please refrain from calling people as beast. I can understand if some people call IR as even God of music but why do you have to call 'Others' as beast?

  ALAIPAYUTHEY:
  
  Rahman scores yet again with this completely different album. In one word, this album is all BASS. let's analyse one by one:
  
  Kaadhal Sadugudu - Toooo gooood. A bluesy guitar backdrop, extremely catchy tune, absolutely underplayed interludes....this song is a surefire chartbuster.
  
  Snehidane - Haunting slow, soft number. Melody rules here. I don't like Sadhna Sargam's voice, but i must say she's done a decent job.
  
  Yaaro Yaarodi - Looking at song title and the singers (all women, can't remember the names), i feared it would be one of those disgusting heroine's-girlfriends-teasing-her kind of songs. But it actually sounds quite good.
  
  September Maadham - Racy song, sounds like one of those where hero, heroine chase each other on the streets of some exotic European city. okie-doke.

  Aliapayuthey - What can one say of this timeless Carnatic classic? In any avatar, it has to sound good. Rahman merely dresses it up with a `jinchak' sound and a tanpura drone, and the end result is charming, but of course. get the feeling it's a cheap trick, but if it goes towards popularising classical music, i have no complaints.
  
  Snehidane - Again.
  
  Evano Oruvan - Pretentious song. Rahman really lets you down. Vaporous, soulless song, though swarnalata tries her best to lift it out of mediocrity.
  
  Pachai Nirame - Cool song, where hero compares the seven colours to some aspect of his sweetheart's character. Need to listen to it a few more times.
  
  Conclusion: If there is one thing common to all the songs (except the title one), it's Vairamuthu's atrocious, pedestrian third-rate apology of a lyric. rahman should seriously consider junking this guy.
  another jarring element is the bad pronunciation of many singers, including some of the chorus chaps. ARR, thamizhai vaazha vidappa!!!
  
  All in all, definitely worth a buy.

  Truly atrocious pronunciation by few singers in Alaipayuthe. Especially, Sadhana Sargam in Snehidhane. Overall the songs are quite good.

  kandukonden-kandukonden is releaed today in malaysia....great effort by ARR...especially two songs sung by..RAMANI AMMAL with JIKKI...
  and the title song by T.M. SOUNDRARAJAN.....guys couldnt beleive ARR used old genre singers...anyway out of 8 songs those two are really outstanding...new life to the greatest TMS...long live TMS and RAHMANji too..(pisuru illama padirikare namma TMS annachi)

  Alaipayathey is a BIG letdown, IMO. A little good here and there but overall impression of mine is that it is the most average album that came from Mani-ARR combo. Heavily disappointed. First IR in 'Kannukil nilavu' and now ARR in 'Alai payuthey'. Hmmm...very disappointed fan.

  Oh, forgot to mention...VM's lyrics left a lot to desire for. I wonder if all this forecasts that the movie will be a hit. Afterall, Dilse music was explosive but film flopped. So this time around...:-)?

  But for the atrocious pronunciation of tamil in some songs and a mediocre Swarnalatha song, the album is quite okay, I feel.
  
  The theme of this movie also is attractive, even as I surf through the official website.
  
  This movie may turn out to be a mega hit for Mani. He is afterall twice bitten....

  Am happy that at least arr is not going the Raja way by accepting whatever comes his way (I donno for what reasons Raja accepts movies like thirunelveli, nagappattaNam and the likes )....
  I 've always felt Raja shud've made such a move long back which wud've been good for him and fans of his, like me.
  
  Hope this news is true and pray arr tries something good and original and not be bogged down by kathirs and subash ghais....

  Not necessarily. It's true that ARR's songs grow on you. I know a lot of people listen 20 times to ARR's new albums before they say it's good or not but I don't understand why that is so. If you are not impressed in your initial few hearings I don't see how it's supposed to impress after 100 listenings:-). I know that it is easier to review the merits of the instrumental music and organization of music etc., but then if the overall presentation doesn't impress you, falling back on these things doesn't make sense. Plus, I know that a lot of ARR fans will disagree with me anyhow, because they would say anything that comes from him is good. I am not like that. I didn't say the album wasn't good. But compared to the other albums by ARR-Mani combo, this IS a big disappointment.
  
  Anyhow, I think that first impression usually is the right. For me, anyways. Sometimes ARR gives albums like 'Roja' 'Bombay' 'Gentleman'
  'Dilse' 'Duet' 'Thiruda thiruda' and a few others and I am blown straight away. But then there are albums that I know are way below ARR's standards. This is one. Especially when you think about the fact that ARR is teaming with MR. I've been disappointed with ARR's albums a lot last year, save for a couple of songs here and there, and the trend seems to be the same in 'AP'.
  
  The only song I liked is 'Kaadhal sadugukudu'. SPB Charan performs well, and ARR used a different presentation for the song which was really nice. It' different in that sense. But I can't help but feel as though I have heard the 'harmony' bits somewhere. But VM should have given better lyrics, I think.
  
  Then 'pachai nirame'. Not much to say here as I don't like HH trademark singing. Boring. But I liked ARR when he sang the 'snEhidhiey bit. Rest are ok. Of course, one has to like 'Alai payuthey' song but then I don't find the rendering as good as the Yesudas/Janaki version by IR. Not recording wise or music wise, just taste wise, I suppose.
  
  To end, the album is pleasing to hear, if you can overlook the poor work by VM. Certainly, if you are bored by the mundane stuff that other MD's are pouring out, this is a good change. But I still hold on to the opinion that it could have been way better.
  
  Anyhow, I think that MR is going to come up with another Mouna Raagam.

  P.S.never can underestimate the picturizing abilities of mani and pc such a win team they make and the whole world knows what a web they yarned out of a no hoper like idhayathai thirudathey
