  Rajagopal/Kalai: I had a chance to listen to another PS/TMS duet yesterday, which I also listen quite often "Vizhiye Vizhiye Unkenaa Velai Virindhukku Varava". Vow..what a tempo. Before you could appreciate the song..its over. PS would just blow you away with her bhavas and MSV looks like had created the song for just both of them. The orchestration is also brilliant which makes you to tap your foot. Please listen to that song and write your comments

  It is true. Good rendition.
  
  "Intha kulathil kal erinthavargal" came in "baghya" weekly . When it printed as a single book he edited little bit. the original was even touching. VR paadalgalil " kaalai thendral paadi varum" from uyartha ullam. "kannana poo magane, kan urangu sooriyane" from Thanneer, thanneer, and "Poomugam sivakka" fro "amma" are real good numbers.
  IR thaan PS market-i keduthavar. athanal enakku avar mela eppavum oru chinna kovam. Aana "ye thendrale " pola neraya paadalagalalil Avar PS-kku koduthirukkirar. Intha paadalgala ketkum pothu Antha kovam enga pochunne theriyala.

  Kalai: IR did promote PS a little. But if you look at the number of songs he had composed for her its second to SJ before 1985 and third after Chitra between 1985-1992. I always thought that he used SJ, KSC and PS. During the early years he had given such wonderful compositions to PS. I thought he had some songs in his mind where PS could do justice to the song. Most of them were great hits like the one you mentioned in Mahendran's movie. She sang 20-25 numbers for him in a year those days.

  IR did give good numbers to PS though not many. The songs in Badhrakali. The duet"Kannan oru...." with KJ is such a beautiful number. Enna oru inimai and kulumai. One should not forget the song in Thaai Mookaambikai. "Isai Arasi Enaalum NeeyE, Unakku Oru Inai AAgumaa.." Ithil IR has paid his respects to PS.

  I have a different openion..
  1. If PS is a upcoming singer and IR given chances this much, it can be considered as great. But, PS is proven singer and she was the no.1 for more than two decades. So, no feather is added to PS crown, because of IR. She got five national awards and none of them are because of IR’s music.
  2. Once TMS told “IR given me chances initially to get the opertunities in shivaji movies”. One interview PS told “Devar uyirodu iruntha varai ennai than paada vaithar”. So, in the initial stages IR was using them as a ladder to catch the market. Most of PS songs with IR is before 1982. You can notice more IR+PS songs from AVM, devar films, sathya movies, shivaji movies. Like that some more song she might have got because of producers and directors.
  3. Before 80’s If there is four Female songs PS will sing for the main heroine and others will be for the second heroine. IR pulls PS down to second heroine level from “kaviKuyil”. “naanum oru thozhlali”,”Gayatri”, “ninaivellam nithya”, “nayagan”, “vazhkai”, “ Adutha varisu” “chinnappadas” “magudi” like many more movies.
  4. Next, Title card. Few movies like, “kaakiChattai” her name was not there in title. Few movies her name was pushed down to second.
  5. PS has a standard and she didn’t do many third class songs in TFM. But, “thinamum kalyanam” from magudi and “malliyapoo kattilile” from “enna petha rasa” are not in PS standards. The good songs of magudi was sung by other singer.
  6. Before also she did songs with other female singers. But she will be having another solo or duet in the same movie. But see this movies “Rettai vaal kuruvi”, “kai kodukkum kai”, “kanne radha”, “ raajthi raja” .
  7. One way to reduce the market is remove them form good banners, movies of top heroes, remove from top directors like …. He did it to PS. How Northies treat Lata? PS done justification to all the southern languages, and where is she now? Who brought her down? No need to give hundreds of songs. Atleast 10 good songs per year is sufficient to keep her in the right place. Even that was denied by this Industry and this discrimination started because of IR.
  It is common in Film field and they are professionals. You can ignore it.
  
  I agree that some beautiful songs he given to PS. But. Any challenging number? Anything, newly extracted form her?
  “ You can praise him for his music or any other Valid reason. Not for Bringing PS down “
  “ PS-kku pinnala vantha ethanayo singers-kku central govt. award kuduthachu ( PSB,KJY). But she is not considered for any award so far. If this Industry given the proper place to her, she could have recognized long back”.

  I dont have regrets on KJY and SPB. They deserve it. KJY proved in Carnatic music too. SPB contributed as a MD and a good actor too. If you see the list of people who already honoured, PS is not lesser than anyone. Narashimmarao was PM for some time, and he didnt do anything for south other than brought an recognision for NageheswaraRao. DevaGowda's period Rajkumar was recognised. I dont know whom to be blamed.

  Kalai/Raj: I truly understand your frustration in this regard. The legendary singer has been forgotten by the TFM and Telugu Film industry. She is an institution and she deserves all the accolades and national honors as LM did. Hailed as the LM of the south, she is yet to receive a national honor. Hope she gets the recognition soon. She is well known in all southern languages and also has over 40000 songs to her credit.

  Let us be positive and PS is above all these. Ms Ponmani Vairamuthu's article in Kumudham and her interview describes her as innocent about all the happenings around. By the way has Filmfare Lifetime Achievment Award been given to PS? I have been writing letters to Filmfare for the last two years, but no response. Who decides the Padmashree awards and what is the procedure?

  How many varieties ? These are few samples. We can find more varieties. Ovvoru katha nayagiyum menmayaga soghathai maraithu konda pothum, pongi pongi azhutha pothum, Ellam pari poi vitta vedhanayil thuditha pothum, ange PS in kural koodave vanthathu. Who given varieties like this? She did justification to all these songs. I feel, this is called versatility.
  When she sings with TMS, her voice perfectly suits with his power. When it is with KJY , her voice is synchronized with his voice. Her voice matches with AMR or PBS’s voice and it is always soothing. You can notice that her voice sync with most of the singers.
  The feelings of a village girl to princess are brought by her voice.
