Yes SPB is Extra Ordinary in Play back singers world, but he is far better MD than the likes of Deva, Sirpy, S.A.Rajkumar.

As far As I know, SPB composed for two Tamil films, "Thudikum Karanghazh (Super*Rajnikanth/Radha) and Sigaram(starring the Genius SPB him self) both were hits muscical wise .

SPB is the best 'melody' composer we have in TFM today. His tunes have all been classy, right from those in 'kanyakumari' (telugu) to sigaram. He had also promised in an interview that all songs (for the movies he is the composer for) would be recorded live with the musicians and the singers together.

You can't separate SPB and music!

After impressing everybody with some excellent compositions in 'Sikaram', he withdrew from the field of music composition because he felt that the rat race was too much for him. Now, he is making a film with Saran, his son. The film is called 'Unnai Saranadainthaen' (the title has Saran too!). Gangai Amaran's son Venkat Prabhu is the hero and ad model Meera Vasudevan is going to be the heroine. SPB is going to compose music for this film. Gangai Amaran has composed the lyrics. As in 'Sikaram' he intends to show his immense talents in this film too with his melodious compositions. 'Unnai Saranadainthaen' is expected to be released in the month of June-July.

spb's sikaram is really a unforgettable hit film.

I don't think SPB used SJ in Sikaram, he used DR.KJY,DR.BMK,Chitra, Mano and S.N.Surendar.

But Dr.SPB did use S.Janaki amma in his earlier venture "Thudikum Karanghazh", starring Super Star Rajnikanth/ Radha.

spb did not use janakiamma in sikaram but he did use her for his hindi film and all his telegu films.
similarly janakiamma used one and only spb for all her songs in the telegu film " mouna poraattam" in which she was the MUSIC DIRECTOR.

SPB was the music director of Mayuri iirc.

Wait for the audio release scheduled for mid-June. The movie is to be released in first half of July from what I heard. 4 out of 5 songs have been recorded already and are supposedly great melodies as expected from SPB.

Why there not much discussion happened on this album? This album has got 3-4 very good songs.

1) Natpu Natpu - IR, MSV and SPB sing together. Beautiful song.
2) Ippo Inge Porandha - Very well rendered by Venkat Prabhu.
3) Kanna Kalakkama - Nice melody.

I see lot of IR's influence on SPB. Nice album. If you missed it, please give it a try. (better than some of latest IR albums)
