I started this topic mainly to share my experiences with that of others .i get some peace of mind when i hear good songs like thene thenpadi meenae from uthaya geetham, thendral vanthu theendum pothu from avatharam, songs from nizhalgal, songs from mudhal mariyathai,
songs from kadalora kavithaikal, nila vae vaa from
mouna ragam ...... .The list goes on.There is no full stop for this list.the above songs are a few to name .
But what i want to convey is that i really experience a good feeling within me when i hear these songs.I would like to know how others feel when they hear these songs .

Dear Sree:
The feeling is not unique to you. I meditate in those songs. It is said, that it is probably music that will bring peace to this world. The last avatar for music is right amidst us, with the name Ilaiyaraaja. May he live forever.

I think no other MD songs are listened after 20 years.for example 16 vayathinilae came in 1978 still senthoora poovae song is heard and liked by every one.I dont think no other MD song reaches this extent.

It is a good topic BUT if you had made it a generalized one
Not restricting to IR - it would have been GREAT.
It would be enjoyable to hear from makkaL what kind
of feelings they get when they hear their favorite songs.
As for your listing goes, "thEnE theN pAndi meenE"
song makes me feel dull and bored.
Avatharam song - havn't heard much - no comments.
About NizazgaL:
pon mAlaip pozuthu - gives a good feeling of walking thru woods
madai thiRanthu - gives happiness - you have to see my face when I sing along with SPB
(Great interude - a long guitar piece - followed by violins
and chorus humming - oru nimisham IR will take me
to a puthu yugam)
poongathavE thAz thiRavAi - the rhytham and the "chingu takku chingu takku" beats make me rhythamic
and Uma Ramanan's different voice is good.
KadalOra KavithaigaL:
Adi AththAdi.....
(kEtkum PthellAm oru puthu uNarchy - IMO - one of the best from IR)
?????...... mayakkuthE mAnE
(IR's own/unique/different amithiyAna kAthal feeling expression thru music - tune - is very good)

Nithin - "last avatar"? As in "no more"? Let's be more optimistic.
sree - You must be joking!!! - Or is your listening prowess so limited.... Or maybe you are not from planet Earth. :-)))

You probably missed out mentioning MSV-TKR classics, one can never get bored listening to them. They are still enjoyed by many for their melody and great lyrics by Kannadasan.

To call IR 'last avatar...' is embarrassing even to a hard-core IR-fan like myself !

Nithin should have thought this way.
No more Primary scientists like Newton, Einstin ets...
No more primary literature people like Shakespere, Thiruvalluvar, Kambar etc...
No more popular politicians like Gandhi (Exceptional), Churchill, Lutherking
No more actors like Sivaji, No more karishmatic figures like MGR, Amitab, and No more Rajini too!!
No more comedians like Charlie-Chaplin, Laurel Hardie
No more players like Sobers, Bradman (definitely nobody is going to secure an average 99.54 like Bradman or being an alrounder like Sobers with 285 wickets and 8500 runs.
No more fast bowlers like Marshall, Roberts, Thomson, Lillie, Kapil, Imran, Hadlee.
Projecting this, No more pethoven, Vivaldi, Ilayaraja!!!!

A Digression: Please donot answer:
Sathya, I am deeply hurt that you mention gAndhi, mArtin lUther
king and churchill in the same breath. Whereas the first two are
saints (at least imo), the latter is a butcher.
