Do any body remember MSV's version
of chinna chinna asai. Long back
it came as a mellisai in Madras Dordarshan.
There was also a composing session
with vairamuthu. (thank god it wasnt Deva,
who was a MD for mellisais in DD that time).
Even kannnukumai azhagu was there.
Do any body remember? how
do you feel comparing them to ARR's ones.

Kumar:
I never heard of this MSV's tunes.
If it was tuned for TV and few years back means,
it should have been just pozuthu pOkku.
Given same lyrics to different MDs, to compare
their stuff is never tried.
But I have noticed one thing, if any song of a
MD becomes a big hit, the other MD tries to use
the same starting words/line when he makes a
better/equaly good song. For example:
After chinna chinna Asai hit, KSV-IR combo
made the song "chinna chinna thUral minna" for
SenthamizpAttu.
Same has happend years before, when AMRaja's
"chinna chinna kannilE" was a hit, MSV-TKR made
"chinna chinna kannanukku".
I think by using the same starting words,
the "MUTHTHIRAI" made by the original song is
sort of erased from people's heart.
Is my theory OK ??

The MSV's song i am talking about came
few years before roja got released. It was
some special program for deepavali or
pongal. As the lyrics were so good
It still remember it. One more thing is
'kannuku maiazhaghu' song there
was sung by vani jayaram and jayachandran.
the tune was almost similar. The lyrics
was same with few changes. I so far thought
these are well known things.

The Vani Jayram-Jayachandran song started as "azhagu azhagu azhagu".
The tune was different from ARR's. I like MSV's version. There was a line in it
"aanillukku vaal azhagu" which was dropped in the ARR's version.
The original "chinna chinna aasai" had very different lyrics. Except the first line almost
the entire song was rewritten I think. I like ARR's version for this song.

Re :
The MSV " chinna chinna aasiagaL" - was pretty good, sung by MSV and a woman singer (I don't know who..). It went :
"chinna chinna aasaigaL / nenjil serthu vaitha aasagaL / solla solla mella nenjil sugam valarkum aasaigaL"
The "azhagu azhagu azhagu" bu Vani Jayaram and a rather portly Jayachandran split me up when he had to sing the line "yaanaikku kombazhagu".. =)
