(I had shut myself out from listening to the Maestro' works since 1986 thru 1996, when like the Maestro I also returned to the greater music with Kadhulukku Mariyadhai! From then on, I am trying to catch up on over 400 movies and as expected I cannot proceed because I am stuck with some discoveries. It is an amazing journey for me now! ) Adhu preludeinu vachchikoyen. Now, coming to the topic.
1. Innum Enna Seiyya Pogirai Anbe Anbe (Singaravelan) Finally, I found the Indian song that has the same compositional class as Michael Jackson's Thriller and Billie Jeanm which in my opinion are the greatest pop numbers. And, IR's contribution to a genre for a western audience is amply satisfied with this song. I am at peace now, yet I want to discover more of IR.
Maybe you can help of songs that are as immaculate as the following ones, which is what I would compile for a GLOBAL AUDIENCE. It can sell around 30 million with marketing efforts:
2. Ival Oru (Brahma)
3. Enadhu Vizhi Ival Meley (Solla Thudikuthu Manasu)
4. Malar Thoppiththil (Dhooram Arikey in Mal)
5. Vanna Nila Vanna Nila (Uzhaippali?)
6. Oh Oh Megham Vandhadhu
7. Oh Butterfly (Meera) clearly for a western audience, just too perfect
8. Ulagam Muzhudhum (24 hours, u got to hear this duet by KJY and VJ)
9. Jinjinnaku Jannakku (Enga Ooru Paattukkaran)
10. Thaa thandhanam Kkummi Kkottu (Adhisay Piravi)
12. Poothathu Poo poop poothu (?)
13. Malligaye Malligaye
(The last 4 may strike it, but they are just too immaculate to be not made known to a world audience.)
That is my question to one and only Maestro. Innum Enna Seiyya Pogirai Anbin Anbaana Maestro Avargaley!! (If our IsaiGnani I feel a longing for a match for another foriegn composition called Planet of the New Orleans by Dire Straits - a very deliberate, contemplative and simply smooth composition. Does anyone know if something like that has been composed by IR?)
BUT, THIS INNUM ENNA SEYYA POGIRAYI ANBE ANBE HAS KNOCKED ME OUT TOTALLY. IT USED TO BE THE KARTHIK RAAJA'S KRISHNA, KRISHNA THAT BEWILDERED ME BUT TO A MUCH LESS LEVEL THAN SINGARAVELAN!!!!! Has anyone had similar experiences with the above numbers, any compilation for a global audience and any songs that still bewilder you?!

Kamalahasan and Sarika were having their usual fight. Sarika was angry that the kaathal ilavarasan was sleeping around, notably with all his co-stars, both male and female.
Their argument became wild until Sarika struck him. Kamalahasan was shocked beyond words. Sarika seized that opportunity to dig her sharp long nails onto the body of Kamalahasan, while he was protecting his face. The injury was so severe that Kamalahasan had to be admitted to hospital.
Sarika regreted her action and decided to visit Kamalahassan at the hospital.
In the meantime, Kamalahasan was on drips and in severe pain. When he saw Sarika, he shivered in fear and shrunk to the corner of the bed.
And it was at this stage that he sang, "innum ennai enna seiya pogiraai anbey anbey."

What kind of a thread is this?
Singaravelan...u must be give some thought to the choice of words...u sound gay :).
It is such a sorry sight..when somebody goes overboard in the way they praise a certain MD. It only sounds pathetic....

peeps, i am indebted for lending that supporting backup feedback...... with that, you seem to have some idea of what i was driving at and i'll come to that pretty soon. as to what i was driving at and how this thread happened.
it was a ear piercing experience that drove me to create this thread, while you have been forgiving, the rest of this versatile but acutely ambiguous community of threadbearers have not been full of mercy. look at that master of ambiguity and might i add, "disorientation", mr. / ms. / mrms. AV. I am not sure which or what.
One thing i know, is that he / she / it is perhaps of A V Thomas Cick and Harry lineage. Simply one of the billions, like his predecessor, ROTFL in particular. Not to leave out the :-| "artiste formerly not called princess." Again, peeps, i appreciate for standing by this torchbearer, who is never hesitant to happily state to the mob of ambiguans here, that I am a he-man and very proud of it. Make no mistake about that.
anyway, how did this thread happen, which is something that i amused by just as i fascinated by the thought of how did this universe begin.
This response should now address the plight of the politically fair and genderly biased clan that began with SP Abraham and continued till AV Saint Thomas. You must thank the painfull shriekiness of SJ's inconsiderate vocal chords in the Singaravelan song..
I was listening to the song perhaps around 10 times non stop when i visited the forum and to an existing thread to just talk about the song itself, when my brain was weakened by tthe shreiking of SJanaki' voice. Just drove me crazy to the extent i started a new thread to express the joy of listening to the song but subconsciously a means to release my ears from the piercing shrill of this extraordinarily 20 khz frequency singer! Such was my plight and would be yours to when you have bought one of the headsets that takes you from 5hz to 40khz with a -3db level and keeps you hooked.
But, see the magic of that perfect compostion. It is absolutely magical even though in my mind's eye every neural message confirmed that S Janaki was literally "scrujing" this peaceful and buoyant composition! Seriously, I recommend that this song be studied and if anyone can also find a way in the process of how to mute SJanaki song, i will feel immeasurably restored.
AV and others, guyz you are good fun here ;--) Keep up the great work here.

Had been an interesting topic.. but few threads were - sorry to say this - disgusting. Friends, those of you who think that TFM is becoming a joke..dont you have better things to do than to comment on others. Well these elements remain as they are.. always!
Coming to the topic, I feel Maestro's greatest success is due to the fact that he has touched most with the feelings,- npstalgic, romantic, or even pathos.. importantly in the native music. Though Rahman is a genius in music he had to look into Western Music to steal our hearts. Maestro did conveniently so with the native Tamil music, and a light mix of Western.. and very little of hindustani music.
There are lot of songs which personally influenced me a lot and took to great rises which mere words cannot express correctly.
Some songs which I would wish anytime throughout my lifetime......
1. Mayilaadum thoappil (Chinna Pasanga Naanga)
2. Mangai nee Maangani (Innisaimazhai)
3. Yeh Vanjikodi Manjachedi.. (Ponnumani)
4. Enna thaan sugamo nenjile (Maappillai)
5. Oru koottil chinna kokilam irandu (Kolangal)
6. Oru thulironnu (Thodarum)
7. Siruvaani aaththu thanni (Iratti Roja)
..lot more

Now why did you have to drag my name here? Honestly, I got lost half way while reading your response and could only guess that you had said something unparliamentary about me. :)

Singaravel...you are the one who should be doubted, as to what you are, for the cheezy statements that you have written.
I know who I am and do not go overboard in praise about anyone and surely do not ponder about what more the MD can do. So if you feel threatened and want to hit out at others, read again your initial post to see how corny it sounds.

raji, this is like bombay dreams. as the hours go by, more and more positive reviews are coming to the rescue. i feel certain of recovering my 4.575 million pounds next time.
ROTFL, tfm is not becoming a joke. 800 movies is not a joke + another 2000 of mellisai mannar and his proteges + add another 50 movies in the last 10 years. no, no saar, you r highly mistaken. we've got enough for a life time on tfm forum if we can also equally be creative and opening inneresting threads.
AV, please remove the chaff from the grain and see what you get out of this thread. still if you insist on looking at the cheezy bits and not hungrily enjoy the satthu or the essence, please do continue with this diet, and also when you run out of it, macdonalds is around the corner.
a latent point of this thread is now proving fundamental to the success of this thread: Innum Enna Seyya
