How to convert real audio songs to mp3?

  pg - is that you ? :-) Actually there is a s/w for doing precisely what you have implied :-) It is called Streambox Ripper :-) It costs about $35, I think. But what is the point behind converting .ra to .mp3 ? It is like recording from an AM radio station to a CD !!! Better yet, there are new systems which play both .mp3 and cda files. Just imagine, you could store about 75-80 .mp3 songs in a single CD :-)

  Guys u can store upto 125 mp3 songs(5 minutes length songs with CD quality) in a single CD. But, as Srinath said converting real audio song into mp3 is waste, quality wise.

  Can a (any) CD player play MP3 songs? I thought they play only .cda (or .cdx?) songs.

  Also ethically speaking, we must consider ourselves the songs available on the net as 'samples' and purchase the original CD/cassettes to support the film industry. Remember we can not sell the software developed by us for one company to other. It can't be. Similarly we should not try for 'Audio Reverse Engineering' (means from .mp3 to CD/Cassettes)

  APEX 600A DVD Player sold at Circuit City in the US plays MP3 songs in a CD-R in addition to playing DVDs, VCDs and CDDAs. It costs $179.99. Very good bargain for the features it has.
