It will be fun doing TFM-DF's own version of Music Awards. :-)
With elections going on in India as well, it will be double the fun. :-))

If all of you are game, here are the rules:

1. Only songs from movies released in 1997 are to be considered.

2. Only one vote for each category will be recognised from each machine. So using different names like "Bones" will not entitle you to multiple votes. :-))

3. Once your vote is posted on the DF, it is final. No changes will be allowed (as it could lead to utter confusion.)

4. Voters need not be active participants in the DF. But please don't share computers with someone who has already posted. (See rule 2 above.)

5. Please understand that each person is ENTITLED to his views when he votes. Do not criticise or go into discussions on such issues, as this is not the purpose of this thread.

6. Please be reminded that this is merely a fun exercise. At the end of it, it proves NOTHING, but the preference of those who visit the TFM-DF pages. Do not get unduly excited of the results. :-)))

7. Please refrain from forming katchis. Above all, DO NOT do any campaigning! Allow people to vote without undue influence or "ulterior" motives. :-))))

8. When you vote, please give full details, such as title of song, movie & singers.

9. When voting for individuals, please indicate the movie/song that gets the credit. Eg. : Best MD : Deva in Nerukku Ner :-)))))

10. Closing date would be Sat. 28 February 1998. Will TFM Mgrs, do the vote-counting and announce the results? (If they are unable to, I can volunteer.)

A great thanks to all those who have voted in.

Here are some specific answers to questions raised:

Rajaraman - I am aware of the unsaid "DF rule", but thought that you, as the TFM managers, should have a say in this topic.

Rajan - I would like to believe that Indians all over the world (myself included) share something common and that is procrastination. :-))
Innum romba naalu irukku-nu irupaanga. Also, they want may want to see the trend in the voting. Yetharkkum poruththirunthu paarpoamey.

Bhaskar - I don't see why anyone should be ashamed/shy/scared to identify oneself as a fan of IR/ARR/Deva. :-))
It is a known fact that I am an IR fan but when it comes to voting, I won't be swayed by sentiments, as I have (and still am) enjoying ARR and Deva songs.
By manipulating the results, what would you hope to gain? As I said previously, this exercise, proves nothing but the preference of the TFM-DF participants (which is more exposed and better educated of the Indian general population).

I purposely left the combo unexplained, as it couyld be any of these (or more) combinations:
Singer-MD, Producer-MD, Lyricist-MD, Director-MD, Lyricist-Director, Lyricist-Singer(!), etc. etc. You would poll on which combo do you think is best.

I will vote only on the Best Song of the Year.

I see that most votes are for ennai thaalaatta
varuvaaLaa. I have heard this song only 3 times
on Malaysian Radio. (Heavy campaigning for KM's
audio cassette on MR!) It is certainly a very good
song. Someone wrote that in the movie Vijay falls in love
with Shalini and sings this song with eagerness.
I feel that, for such a situation the song lacks
thuLLal; the beats are tooo slow. Perhaps
if I see the movie and also listen to the song
more number of times I could change my opinion.

The song manam virumbuthE of Nerukku Ner (made for a
similar situation-- a girl longing for the fellow she
loves) impresses me very much. I am told that the
tune is a copy. I really don't care abt that because I am
choosing the best song and not the best MD! The
song has an excellent tune and azhagaana neLivu
suzhivugaL; certain swara-combinations are nicely
repeated; even the bit of silence that comes in
the middle of the song has a great effect! Overall
this is a great song. My vote goes for it.

Satya Keerthi - Believe me - Ennai thaalaatta varuvaaloa is really nice. Malaysian Radio is not heavily campaigninging (Indian elections?) for KM, as the ads are all paid for. It's the distributors who are doing the promotion. The "someone" who wrote the picturisation is me! (Yeppoa naan yaaroa oruvanaanein? :-))
