  I observed the following tunes given by IR to be very different and difficult to sing also:
  
  1)Thoongatha vizhigul rendu - Agni Natchathiram
  2)Oru Kootil Chinna kokilam irandu - Kolangal
  3)Netru vandha Katru - Kanmani
  4)Nilladha Vennila Nillu Nillu en vasalil - anazhagan
  5)Oru kaviyam arangerum nerum - Aruvadai naal
  6)Partha vizhi parthapadi poothu irukka - Guna
  7)Kannama kadhal enum kavidhai solladi - Vanna Vanna Pookkal
  8)Mazhai varutvathu mayilukku theriyum - ???
  9)Mangai nee Mangani Madal vidum - ???
  10)Nyaan Nyaan Aadanum - ???

  "Thodakkam enge idhuvarai sarivara puriyavillai" in Mahanadhi is just a different tune than the usual melodies Raja has given.

  To PG:
  Most of IR's tunes are unique. There is no doubt about it. But I listed those songs which were very different and difficult to sing. Do you remember the etham and irrakkam of tunes in "thoongathat vizhigal rendu". In Guna, the song "Parthavizhi parthapadi poothu" is sung in a low tone which is difficult to render.
  
  IR uses KJY instead of SPB in songs which sound more carnatic and difficult to sing.
  
  Guys, Some of the songs you listed seem to come under the usual melody songs IR gives. IR has given many songs which has troubled professional singers too.
  
  So, Guys, I would like to list songs only which seem to be complicated and very different than the usual stuff IR gives.

  S.PB. i think the movie is 'naanum oru thozhilaali
  fast song and difficult to sing.
  
  'kurunji malaril ' - SPB and Vaani
  from azahae unnai aaradhikkiraen.
  You can see(hear) vaani exhibiting tremors in the higher octaves.
  
  'adichidu kottam ' from Indran chandran
  was different in its rhythm..
  
  'kalai vaanio raanio' SPB from villupattukkaran
  . If the song had gone to mano he
  would have despoiled it.
  
  'vandhaal mahalakshimyae' uyarndha ullam .
  with S.PB again being versatile.
  
  'poongaatru un per solla' from vetri vizha
  had different interludes.
  
  'ada mana madhurayilae' from koil kalai
  is exceptional in its musical rendition and of
  course S.PB. the song starts with a great violin
  overture.
  
  'indha maan undhan ' from karakattakkaran.

  It looks like another exercise of listing all of IR's hit songs. Why don't someone cut&paste IR's notabole gems from his homepage?
  BTW I saw Raja rani jackie (netrikkann) as a gem. Come on give me a break! I know personal tastes differ vastly; but a gem song has to be unanimous.

  The song "Ennulle ennulle" in Valli is one of the loveliest tunes I have ever heard. And, the guitar interlude that starts the song and is played
  in the movie to express the heroine's emotions is just out of the world. I do not have words to say. It is just total bliss!

  Yennethil yetho sill-endrathu - Bharathiraja movie. Words alone cannot describe the lyrics, the music and the rendition. Pity the movie was a failure.

  one more song for the difficult to sing list-
  konji konji alaigal oda from veera.
  the start seems simple but the pallavi and charanam are very difficult to sing . SPB shows his amazing control over his voice in the song and has done a marvellous job.

  IR has done some very good numbers in malayalam too.. with the nativity undisturbed.. for eg u can listen to one of those songs in the tamil movie 'autoraja'.

  "kanavu onru thondruthe
  Idhai yaarodu solla" - from Oru odai nadhiyaagiradhu is a unique song ( in Revathy raagam ). Listen to it, it has an inexplicable sense of foreboding . I doubt if any female singer other than SJ could have done justice to the mixture of emotions like fear and excitement of tasting the forbidden fruit
