Hello Friends,

Here I would like to add a new topic "Tamil Songs, Which Give Motivational Thoughts". In Tamil Songs there are lot of Songs to motivate us. Example the following song, "Vaazha Ninaiththaal Vaazhalaam Vazhiyaa Illai Boomiyil...". If you see the lyrics in that song, which will give more motivational thoughts like...
"Paarkka Therinthaal.. Paathai Theriyum...
Paathai Therinthaal.. Payanam Thodarum...
Payanam Thodarnthaal..Kathavu Thirakkum...
Kathavu Thiranthaal... " and goes like that. What these lines show me is, the basic thing for the life is "Vision", that is, the way how We are looking and approaching the problems in our Life. Like this we have plenty of songs in tamil film music. I hope you will like this topic. Why don't you guys try some more songs and tell us how it will motivate the people. Some of the Songs I do like are...

1. Mayakkamaa Kalakkamaa (Sumaithaangi)
2. Unnai Arinthaal Nee Unnai Arinthaaal Ulagaththil POraadalaam (VEttaik Kaaran)
3. Achcham Enbathu Madamaiyadaaa... (Mannaathi Mannan)
4. Saththiyamay Latchiyamaai Kolladaa (Neela Malai Thirudan)
5. Thirudaathey... Paappaa Thirudaathey... (Thirudaathey)... And goes on like this...

"Saththiyamay Latchiyamaai Kolladaa" (Neela Malai Thirudan was THE song for me when I was around the age of about 5 to 6. At that period of time I enjoyed watching mostly MGR films with alots of sword fights and was thrilled by his swashbuckling roles. Songs, I did not give much thoughts to them until I heard these "Saththiyamay" it changed my whole concept of listening to tamil songs. Only after these song I started listening intently to all the songs which I had overlooked earlier. I then realised how rich were they in their meanings. But still it was only to MGR films I returned to hear the songs. These was because at that period of age one always wants to see heroism, valour and alots of fights with the bad guy! of course winning too. Nadodi Mannan was my favourite, with the title song "Senthamizhe Vanakkam" a song singing praises for "tamizh". To-date IMHO I have not heard any songs which has had that beautiful verses in praise of "tamizh". What I heard, at that period of time when the song was released it was even mentioned to be made the national anthem for Tamilnadu, but then Congress was ruling the Tamilnadu thus definitely oppositions opinion or contributions would or cannot be accepted(Still happening). The other song which gives the goose pimples whenever I hear it,is "Uzhaippathilla" also from Nadodi Manan a fantastic one when you the meanings of each word in that song. These is where my problem with the language came as my mother tongue is not tamil, thus I could not fully comprehend the meanings of the words. Tamil film songs made me, especially MGR films, to learn tamil on my own. I was in an english medium school thus there was no oppurtunity to learn tamil furthermore with me speaking malayalam at home it was with great difficulty I learnt tamil till I could read and understand the words quite well. Thanks to tamil film songs and of course my motivational guru "the evergreen hero" of tamil films.

Years ago, I used to hear a song sung by TMS, the lines of which were really penetrating.The lines were:
"Veedu varai Uravu
Veedhi varai manavi
kaadu varai pillay
kadachi varai aro"
Somebody may feel these lines are not motivating type and have even a reverse effect towards motivation since the lines express indefiniteness after death. But these lines also can be interpreted as a consolation that the earthly ties and relations are temporary and the ultimate shelter is god in which case it is a
motivation.
Can anybody comment which is a more appropriate
interpretation?

I think the song you are referring to is
from KanniRasi(Pandiarajan's first movie
as director). It is the title song if
I remember it correct.

I think Pandiarajan's first movie as director is "Aanpaavam". "Kanni raasi" was his second, I guess.

Guys, I think you'll have missed a marvellous motivational song. It is "Nenjea Un Aasai Yenna, Nee Ninaithal Aagatha Yenna, Intha Boomi, Antha Vaanam, Eedi Minnalai Thanguvathenna!!" by TL Maharajan. It is for a Rajni movie by IR. Can' remember the movie though. If anyone knows, do drop a line please..

The movie is Naan Potta Saval. The same movie
has a great song "Sugam Sugame thodha thodhathane".

Rajini will look at his youthful best in
this movie and not jaded as in his current movies
which ofcourse will run for 200 days just for
his presence.(Ofcourse Naan Potta saval came in
78 or so !)
