We are indebdted to Deva and his team of lyricists who have time and again come with the beautiful lines/tunes in tfm.
Sample-kku... if we take the following...
"Kattu kattaa note adicha.. karanttu bill-u katturaaru.."
Inga we should appreciate the honesty of the person who had paid the electricity bills for the electricity used to print the fake notes..
inga thaan lyricist nambala yosikka vaikkiraaru...
did they pay the electricity bill with the notes they printed...?? or was it with genuine notes...
see the depth of the lines and the inner meaning..
simply mind blowing.. what do you say guys..??
"While lackaarn kozhi onnu koovudhe... Adhu fast food kadai-ya paarthu yengudhu... "
Just try to understand the inner meaning.. why should a kozhi yengify looking at the fast food shop.. is it longing for some mutton soup or some noodles..?? simply thought provoking...
One more (But not from the great Deva..)
"Vidiyal solli koovura seval kuzhambula kodhikkaradhe..."
What a careful selection of words and equally fantastic tune...???
There are many such lines which are simply superb...

Hey it is "White-leg-horn kozhi onnu koovidhu" ("Whitulegarn kozhi onnu koovidhu" in Tamil...according to Deva)
Many in my collage used to sing as "vaiyithuladhaan kozhi onnu koovudhu"..
Avlo nalla padinaaru namma thiruttu deva.

zz..
it was a typo.. i intended to type 'white lackaarn' in tamil.... anyhow.. thanks for correcting.. ;-)
But, "vaiyithuladhaan kozhi onnu koovudhu.." seems to be a better lyric when compared to the original....
What a thought..??
Kozhi koovifying in your stomach..!!! and it is yengifying to be on the fast food pan again..
Probably, the chicken in the stomach enjoyed its oil bath in the fast food pan... and it wants to have it for one time... ;-)

exactly..infact I used to wonder and try to derive meaning for this song myself...I used to a bit introvert but some how I wanted to know the exact meaning or atlest comment on the lyricist who writes that a chicken in ahalf digesting mode wishes to be in the frying pan in the fast food....I don't know why I was so perticular about this song in those days....Then one day when I was crossing a mutton stall (non veg shop)...I read that "'White leg Horn' kozhi inge kidaikkum"...That prompted me to get astonished by the way the lyricist has put the words and the way our deva has sung...Both deserving a president medal.

Probably.. the trend setter in gaanaa....
Mani enna aachu..
Naan poraen beechu..
Beechu-nnaa kadal-u..
Anga aambalayum pombalayum padaichaanae Udalu..
Udalukkulle kudal-u...
Kudal-u mela medal-u..
Medl-unna thangam..
Yen guru peru singam..

Yes sudalai:
I also was thinking about this sequence less, meaning less Gana....No connection between one line and other...
Where is a medal over your kudal (Intestine)..what is he trying to say..is he saying that when the medal hangs it actually hangs to the level of intestine....but all medal need not be gold illaiya..adhuvum an Indian cannot sing like that...probably could have said that medalunna..bronzu..or copper etc.
Then "yen guru peru (A)singam "..sariyaana miruga payala iruppan polirukku..
But..but..hang on...I still feel that gaana as a form of music is no lesser to even carnatic music as...it satisfies a sect of people who enjoy gaana...there are infact good ganaas about patriotism..Tamil patru..education, wpmen liberation etc..

yeah.. i guess.. this one was just lyrics for the very catchy tune..
Btw, it is predicted by a survey that India would win 11 golds in this edition of olympics. Lets Hope and Pray it to come true.
Any idea... why the name 'Gaanaa paadal'..
Gaana itself means song... then why this name..??

zz..
I was thinking about the 'Kudalu mela medal-u' last night.. and i got a possible reasoning...
When someone is wearing the medal.. or someone is awarded the medal..
The medal would hang from his neck and would be just around his stomach area... illayaa...
that's why it should have been... 'Kudal-u mela medal-u..'

In my earlier post I mentioned that...now since this song has made many of us to do research..does it really worth it...paakkalam..
Shall we take one another Gaana as our reserch subject.

sudalai,
there is a song in the movie "Thrill".it goes like this
"oonjal pole udambu
angel pole iduppu....."
this song is a real Gaana masterpiece.it dwells on the romantic and philosophical aspects of having a "Chinna Veedu".the lyrics hav so much meaning that ,if a married man beset with problems in his life hears this song he may think of going for a chinna veedu!!
it[the song] doesnt cheaply glorify 'chinna veedu' but explores wat kind of happiness we can derive out of chinna veedu.plz hear it for sure....the tune is a decent one,but blends very beautifully with the lyrics.
Sample:
..."kurangu pola chinna veedu nu sonnavan muttalu
antha kurangu seyyum settaigala naan anubavicha aalu
anna thambi koottu kudumbam thinari thavichcha naalu
naan chinna veedu sirukkum azhagula kavalai marandha aalu........."(it goes)
...."kaamathu paala kaapiyil kalapaa"...
....."kaadhal bodhayil kallaga innipa".....
(in last stanza)....."kudubam kutti endru naan missai niracha naalu
udumba pola chinna veedu thaan aasai kootum aalu"
i think u get the point.som lines are so poetic that one feels proud of Deva.the way the song is sung by him,his age [married for so long!!,no offense meant to him]and voice that aptly suits the message of the song all elevate this simple gaana to great heights.lets discuss the lyrics more [see sample lyrics above]...maybe somone sheds more light on interesting aspects .
let thr be no Deva-bashing here....yes it is a known fact that he copies...a lot,but dont bring those things here.

lyrisc sounds good.. ;-) is it available for download..??
also, any idea about the original creators of the songs that Deva often lifts from..?? I heard there are some singers from Ayothikuppam and Royapuram who come out with the Gaanaa cassettes..

>>> I heard there are some singers from Ayothikuppam and Royapuram who come out with the Gaanaa cassettes
ya..I too have heard some name..Infact in one of the episodes of Yuhi Sethu Program in Vijay, a guy sang many Ghaana songs which I listed in film songs..I did not catch up that program from the begining , so I missed it.
On day, long long ago, when I was travelling to Trichy from chennai by bus in nite...there was halt near Vikrapandi I believe. They were playing ghaana songs loadly and I heard three songs and all were cini song remodelled with some ghaleej lyrics...
I believe that they were the originals for Deva.
