Why aren't the singer given due credit as the MDs?

For song to be successful, you will need a good voice, good lyrics, good tune, but when ever a song becomes a hit, it is the MD that is often talked about the most, ignoring the singers, why?

  why is the cfo or ceo of a company gets the name in the magazines, while his employees who are the actual workers don't get to be inteviewed.
  
  --- answer is "employees", nature of work!...
  singers are employees/contractors who work for a C'Music'O called music director. Singers are paid and it ends there. They dont share more....like if the songs fails it is the MD is who overthrown. Singers get employed/contracted by other MDS
  
  You should be director not an employee/contractor.
  
  thats why western singers have their own music albums. No one knows who composes for back street boys or madonna,
  here in west is it is other way round, composers are contractors :)

  IMO singers do need to be given credit for the success or failure of a song..........and they do get em atleast to a small extent
  
  Udit Narayan is one heck of an example when it comes to failure......imgaine him singin Nenjil Jil Jil !!!!
  
  but when it comes to success not many cases are explicit......a singers voice is considered only as a helper for the song to succeed and the tune/rhythm is considered more important as it is
  
  a singers role is more evident when the same song is sung by dif. ppl........IMHO the O Podu version of vikram is better than that of SPB.....coz SPB's voice is too soft for the song.......that obviously doesnt make vikram a better singer than SPB :)
