After the first few years of enjoying his music, most of us never revis those songs again. Worse still, his songs in the last few years have come and gone. Why is it that his music does not stick to one's heart after the fad is gone. MSV has done it. IR has done it. But ARR's music has and can never stand the test of time. Why is this so?

dinesh, you seem to have some points about the differences in personalities between ARR and IR. For now, I suppose we can put aside their styles of composing. So, you say IR is real harsh on his singers? Possibly the reason SPB stopped singing for him? Yeesh! Raja's really good at making melodies, but yikes, I'd rather be a playback singer for Rahman after reading your posting.
On the other hand, maybe Raja is very success conscious, like many successful team coaches. What I am really saying is that ARR's lenience may be the reason that singers, especially imports, may spoil the song, even though it has a great tune. Something to think about. :-)

You are coming to say that ARR is great coz he worked with an English Guy???
Disgusting.

I think he meant to say that ARR worked with the very successful, respected and accomplished composer, Andrew Lloyd Weber, and not any random British guy.
Why shouldn't one distinguished composer recognize another, regardless of their ethnicity? Ok, so he's British. Not everyone is perfect.

LP,
Your list, is just based on Lyrics. A Tune relys greatly on its Lyric.
IR is efficient in utilizing his own tunes in some other song in a different style, if original turn out a flop.
A song from Veera - Vaadi Vethalappakku... was a flop in that movie. But he does'nt wanted to waste the tune for such stupid lyrics. He lifted the tune for a malayalam film, with Mammoty in the lead & jesudas the singer, with Lyrics as 'Ona Thumbathoru Unnaal aadum chella Paigngili'. It became instant Hit & later fetched the State Award for Jesudas. The Song was so brilliantly composed and pleasing to hear in Malayalam.
Another instance is 'Sariya Sariya Ennai Kathalithathu' of 'En Kitta Modhathey' became 'Kuzhalorathil enthan thodiampookkam' in Malayalam & fetched state award for IR.
'Kuyilukkuppam Kuyillukuppam Gopuram Avathenna' came back as 'Thuliyiley Aadavantha Vanathu Min Villakke'.
'Ennadi Muniyamma' was reflected as 'Ottha roova tharen'.

Musio, VV is one of the great hit song during that time. Particularly in the start of the song, groovy beats. Is the song come in similar context or different? This song was hidden in the wave of other great songs in Veera, I think.
pranav>> That is the ARR sangam definition (You know its thalaivar?) atleast in newtfmpage.

"Why Doesn't The Music Of ARR Stick!"
Isn't this relative...say whatever you want..but more than IR and MSV, it is ARR songs that I hear everywhere these days.
True ARR is not as prolific as IR..but still he has devised his own style...and is as creative as is predecssors.
Thinks of the western music scene...every body comes with like an album a year...and are in hibernation for the rest of the time....ARR can beat these guys/gals both in quality and quantity. So keeping is sound and technology to western standards and still satisfying the taste of the north, south and lately the international audience...ARR is doing a commendable job which IR cannot measure up to..PERIOD.

LP,
Silk smita jattiya pottukondu dance aaduvadharkku nethu rathiri emma-vum pon meni urugudhey paattum podaama mahaganapathim paatta poduvanga??
Besides, did it every occur to you that the only bad element about these songs is the lyrics and not the music and the tune? As a matter of fact, SPB was at his best in Nethu rathiri emma song.
IR scored 4000+ songs. Do you know what kind of achievement that is? Do you know how many classics IR fans can list out of those 4000 songs? Kaanaama poiduveenga!. If you don't like IR then that's your taste. But dont talk rubbish about IR and his music.
rawther,
you like ARR bcos he converted into your religion?? Just curious. Why do you say IR is a paraya? Ungalukku mudindhal music pathi mattum pesungal. Otherwise stay away from newtfmpage. If you have a lot of time to kill then LP-yum neengalum thaniya oru thread aarambithu pesikkondu irungal.

The only song of ARR that i critically enjoyed and find mature composition is: Aathangara Maramey. Following way behind are: Strawberry Kanney. These 2 songs are world class and brilliant. He is original, more original than Karthik Raja, but cannot sustain it unlike many of the veteran composers who composed brilliant songs and kept on giving.

what do you mean by this. Most of all his songs were for Kaml, Rajni. So you are indirectly saying that Rajni Kantha nd Kamal brought TFM down by their Dirty films...????????????????????????????
