Best of IRs - From BR's movies

In my opinion, the best combination ever in TFM was IR and BR. Any opinions?

  I second your words. Isaignani always have a terrifc soft corner for BR. Leave the songs, think about the rerecording for his movies by Raaja. Still the BGM from Oru Kaithiyin Dairy is scintillating.I'm little annoyed with the way BR picturises the amazing tunes from Isaignani.Extras dancing with the white dress.But most of the times he did justice to his songs.Kadalora kaavithaigal is one such movie.Watch the bit song Das Das chinnappa Das Das... mind blowing picturisation.Camera running on the shores of Muttam on the sunset.Directors today has to learn from these legends, how to present the movies poetic.

  I would rate 'mudhal mariyAdhai' as the best for this combo - in fact one of the best ever in Tamil films, IMHO. Very few films have such supreme songs blend so well with the story line (which itself was very good) and competent performance by all, including Sivaji & Radha...(Sindhubhairavi by KB is better musically, blending of songs /BGM etc were excellent due to the fact that the hero is a classical singer... but failed to become a kAviyam like MM, due to the supporting of adultery and a silly polygamy-kind-of-climax, which suits only Rajinikanth movies like adhisaya piRavi / veera, IMHO)

  Well said. I did not have the time to elaborate on the BGM. Needless to say the rerecording is the best in BR movies. BR himself has said, he never demanded anything from IR for rerecording. "I picturise the song with some impact in mind, IR comes with his mind blowing BGM scores in no time" was what he said in an well known interview (refering the M.Mariyathai BGM flute piece when Sivaji's Akka magan dies).
  
  They had perfect synchronization in their works. IR's music was also a factor in making BR a great director too. I do not see the same output from BR with anyother music directors including ARR.

  Vizhiyil Vizhunthu - A.Oivathilai
  
  This song was pictursed very well in my opinion. Esp. When IR goes thagathom Thagathom, Karthik running from a small rocky mountain with the glowing sun (set or rise) in the background. Another piece is when the line goes "Un Velli Kollusoli Veethiyil Kaetal...Aha..Aha..", BR shows the sun reflection, waves on the sea. These two scences blended very well with the song/music.

  How about Kadhal Oviyam, Radha and I dont know the guys name, there are few mind blowing songs in this movie too, specially the 'Nadhiyil Aadum Poovanam' superb song!

  Sangeetha Jaathi Mullai -- Yes, I too think its SPB's best ever, comparable to Sankara Nadha Sareerapara (Sankarabaranam).
  
  The movie was way too early for that period. I watched it now after 20 years and I can't find any fault what so ever in it. Even, the hero Kananan has acted pretty well. Kamal would have been a perfect choice for this movie.

  I remember, the picturisation of songs in Tik Tik Tik was exceptional; the songs Ithu oru nila kalam should be one of the best. Poo malarthida song and picturisation too good.

  Even Bharathiraja's useless movie "Valibame vaa vaa" had amazing songs
  povaanam panneerai then thoovudhu
  Kanne balam thannaal vandhadhu = Jesudoss's freak out song
  azhage unnai konjam kangal yezhudha vaa vaa - Susila and Vasu. Must be one of the most sensual songs sung by Susila

  Maacha, azhage unnai konjam is a great song indeed. thanks for reminding me that forgotten number. When IR gives nothing but the best to BR till naadodi thenral, BR's film managed to just meet more than half of IR's magnificent work.
  Iam clueless as to why he went to ARR. Though ARR gave some gud numbers in kizhakku cheemai and karuthamma, his work in tajmahal was below average. Arr's plastic songs didnot suit the rural mileu. Arr's kadalpookal also cannot come any close to IR's Kadalora kavithaigal.
  Well, Pudhiya vaarpugal is my most favourite BR-IR combo, with evergreen songs like "Vaan megangale" , "Tham thana thamthana" , "Idhayam pogudhe"

  I was watching kamal-radha portions of 'oru kaidhiyin diary' yesterday...though this film cannot boast of great songs (abc nee vAsi, pon mAnE are good not great), the BGM is amazing...I think BR always have a few (relatively long) scenes without dialog, just to make use of the capability of IR...

  ARR gave mind blowing songs in K. Cheemayile and Karuthama.... Tajmahal was okay.....!
