Minmini, a forgotten singer ?

The singer who sang

"Chinna Chinna Aasai; Siragadikka Aasai" and unfortunate enough to have not got a National Award for this.

The singer who sang
"Adi Poonguyile Poonguyile Kelu" in "Aranmanai Kili"

The singer who sang

"Kurukku Paadhayilae Marichu Vazhia Vittu" in "I Love India"

Shall we forget her singing with Subha in "Bakthi Paadal Paadattumaa... Sambo Sambo Sambo Sambo" from "Pudhiya Mugam"

Considered to have a voice resembling Janaki, IR did use Minmini and in fact more than ARR, I suppose.

Unfortunately, she had some severe throat problem, got operated for that too, but still could stay in the singing profession.

Friends, what do you opine about this singer ?

  A small error, which had occurred in my posting.

  kumarr, though Minmini had some nice songs to her credit, I feel she was a mediocre singer - nothing special or adding value to the song. Like in the song "Sambho Sambho", though Shuba's voice was vibrant and suited the mood of the song, Minmini's voice was in contrast and very subtle.

  Ravi, if Minmini, also had been asked to sing to match Subha in that song, that song would not have come out very well.
  
  One too vibrant, but husky and one less vibrant, but smooth and melodious only will tally.
  
  Infact because of her singing only, that song can be partly categorised in the "Melody" section.
  
  I think, IR used her well than ARR, and gave more number of songs to Minmini.
  
  Ever heard
  
  "Thendral Varum Munne Munne Themmaangu Varum Pinne Pinne" from "Dharmaseelan" in IR's music.
  
  The singers for this song are Arunmozhi and Minmini and they are not heavyweights as SPB or Janaki.
  
  Still, they have handled the song reasonably well and it is a great melody not many might have heard.
  
  Listen to her rendition, in that not so easy-a-song.

  "Poo malarnthathu Boomiku thane.." one more nice song by Minimini. Music - Bala barathy.
