Tamil music doomed to become western music

Today's releases like Kaaka Kaaka, Winner, Punnagai Poove are further blurring the line between Thamizh music and Western music. In fact, the Tamil public are now blind to the fact, how the MDs of these movies are blatantly copying western songs. This music is becoming hit and people will not accept rustic tamizh music anymore. This trend is beginning to get out of hand. IR's music is not the rage anymore even though his tunes are delightful to hear. ARR is getting buried by his own spade. Nowadays, even fusion music is no longer good, only pure western is accepted. That's why ARR is down and nearly out. His next desperate attemp will be a fully westernized album in 'boys' further destroying Tamil music image. I would rather hear music in films from Bharathiraaja, Thankar Bachan than the new hype directors. I hope this trend fails fast. I feel this trend began in the last 2 years with HJ. ARR brought in fusion music, while HJ has brought in western music. YSR is following the same lead. There is no character and stuff in Tamizh music, if this continues.

  This is highly fluctuating time for TFM.IR could strain for ~25years.Then ARR ~9years.Now no body could hold their position.
  
  After a while it may get stable. Or it may not be. Who knows?.Only God knows.

  IR very cleverly blended the western fusion right from 1980 starting from Alaigal Oivadillai. Listen to those beatiful numbers 'Putham Puthu Kalai' & 'Kadhal Oviyum Paadum Kaviyam'. He never used either any Rithm Beats or Excessive Keyboards for these songs. This continued for several songs. But nowadays nobody seems to attempt these styles. The excessive use of keyboards have doomed the tfm now. Even though IR was professionally qualified in Key boards and Guiter (Upto Grage F in 1982) from Trinity college of London, he used Keyboards rhythms very rarely in his songs, fully knowing that it is not a welcome sign for the future of TFM. But now, with the advent of ARR & HJ the situation has turned. Fusion has no real meaning here. 'Mix Keyboard & a Tabla beat with a shanoy vaadhan and call it a fusion' This is the order of the day, which will take certain time to change. IR's style of music will be liked by the people once again. Alrady Suryan FM & most of the TV programs have started relaying some of the best IR songs of the 80's, adhearing to listeners request.

  There are always songs like `pAttu cholli' which keep the native flavour flying...hence don't worry, TFM has enough depth & cannot easily be bothered by top layer `OLangaL':-))
  
  (More promising news, qualified youths still choose songs of native flavor, e.g. This Sunday the songs sung under `indRu' category at SunTV SapthaswarangaL:

  Eden, IR in one of his malayalm interviews during the beginning of 1990's very beatifully spoke about just music for a solid one hour program. He gave several examples of various versions of a same tune. In it he took an Carnatic song and started giving the western, hindustani, folk ... examples keeping the raga at the base. It just reflected the music geniousness within him. In his example the western version was so good that it prompted the interviewer to ask why cant he adopt the western style always. To this he very humbly remarked that western styles may make your foot tap and will stay in your mind only for a limited period, but he would like to compose a song which will touch your heart and refreshes your memory whenever you hear and not a shortlived one. (Listen to Pattu Solli any time & you will enjoy the melody whenever u hear)
  
  This man can turn to western styles very easily just like ARR or HJ, but his intention his not to do so.

  On the bright side, I guess if anyone comes in with some true folk Tamil songs, he will instantly be branded as an original composer! Doesn't matter whether the tune is half-original, or entirely ripped off. :-))

  IR gave the ultimate manifestation of music, various approaches integrated in the most enchanting style ever and proved that no form or genre is really different from the other, it is just perception.
  
  Tamil becoming Pop, what is there: every thing goes thru various phases and tries various percpetions to find its own best identity. being open minded is the best philosophy and only In Tamil films you find that approach liberally used.

  music is not having anu boundaru like western eastern. its the creation of nature only.based on the culture different styls are developed - that's all. so we should accept all the styles into our heart.
