Yesterday, I was channel surfing and suddenly got transfixed to a beautiful(!!!) trumpet piece BGM in "Pickpocket" a satyaraj movie. The sequence was Satyaraj , police officer getting arrested for supplying false credentials to join the force on the testimony of Radha. This happens in a marriage hall and IR used the trumpet and a blues piece for the exact sequence where the police officer is handcuffed. It was amazing. It is one thing to use a blues passage to highlight a complete chain of scenes like a car chase or a romantic dinner, but to use it only for a single shot(in this case "handcuffing"), is something unique. Folks why dont we dig up similar pieces in TFM, TeFM and MFM by IR ?

I dont know about this sequence as I am not that familiar with Tamil IR movies, but I have noticed that the BG bits during fight sequences in Telugu IR movies are non-jarring.
Even the sound effect is pleasant....
To name a few are..
1. Aakhari poratam....Has anyone noticed this in fight sequences?
2. Dharma Kshetram....
3. Jag..Vee..Atil...Sundhari

In his early days, IR used traditional rural drums for confrontations, mridangams for chase sequences(eg. "Guru" where kamal wears that funny costume). Later on for movies set in urban environ he used western drums with electric guitar and trumpets(eg."Sigappu Rojakkal). I think his blues(Jazz) leanings started ever since. Further on, he started mixing Blues with WCM effectively(the sequence mentioned in the beginning of the thread, a case in poin). Use of tabla for sensitive situations also is worth mentioning(eg., Mouna Ragam sequence where Revathi repels Mohan). Late nineties after symphony, he started mixing all of these into an amazing cocktail(classic eg., "Kalaignan", the killer asks(blackmails) kamal to come to Hessarghatta and immediately Kamal rushes to that spot. IT IS SIMPLY AMAZING!!!).
I would appreciate if I could get just the pieces alone...
Thanks and regards.
