More info.
"First movie: "Anbu". His "neelavanna kannane"(Mallaikaa) was a very famous song during his days. "aayarpaadi kaannaa"(Rangon raatha) apparently got praises from Perarignar Anna and Kalaignar. Another song that impressed Anna was "kutraala aruviyile kulithathu pola irukkuthaa"(Nallavan vaazhvaan). Other hits soodi koduthaval - teacher amma onnume puriyale - kumaara raajaa He has used Anna's saying "kathiyai theettathe thambi buthiyai theettu" in the movie "Vilakketriyaval".

This is what Saravanan wrote for an earlier SOTD:
MSV recently hit the headlines when the Tamizh Isai Sangam conferred the title ‘Isai Perarignar’ on him. But years ago when T.R.Papa was honored with the same title by the same august body, it went mostly unnoticed. Some men are destined to remain in the sidelines, despite their abundant achievements, and Thiruthuraipoondi Radhakrishnan Papa stands in the forefront of such forgotten masters of tfm.
Papa (real name Sivasankaran, born 1923) boasts of a pedigreed musical lineage, and started training on the violin from early childhood. In due course Papa was playing the violin in production houses like Modern Theatres and Jupiter Pictures. In the late 40s, Papa and TK Ramamoorthi were the highest paid violinists, and were always in demand.
It was Joseph Thaliyath Jr of Citadel Film Corporation, who gave Papa his first break as an independent MD, and the Malayalam film Aathmasaanthi- 1952 (also dubbed in Tamil) proved an auspicious beginning, for Papa went on to compose for many of Citadel ventures like Mallika, Vijayapuri Veeran, Vilakketriyaval, Iravum Pagalum and Kaadhal Paduthum Paadu. Papa also composed music for many Singhalese films (The timeless appeal of 'Siriyame sara', sung by the great H.R. Jothipala is a telling instance of T.R.Papa’s numerous popular hits in Singhalese)
In all, Papa composed music for only around 30 Tamil films, and though some his songs were lifts (‘Aasai pongum azhagu roopam’/ ‘Nilavo aval irulo’/ ‘Iru maanganippol idhazhoram’), he deserves commendation for some unforgettable compositions like ‘Enna enna inbame’, ‘Samarasam ulaavum idame’, ‘Sirippu- idhan sirappai seerthookki paarpathe’, ‘Thalaivaari poochootti unnai’, ‘Varuven naan unadhu’, ‘Chinnanjiru vayathu mudhal’, ‘Yaar solluvaar nilave’, ‘Sirikkindraal indru sirikkindraal’, ‘Ullam thedaathe endru solluthe’, ‘Muththaitharu paththithala’, ‘Onnume puriyale ulagathile’, ‘ullathin kadhavugal kanngalada’, ‘Muththama aasai muththama’, ‘Soodi koduthaval naan thozhi’, ‘Iarivan endroru kavignan’, ‘Vennila nerathile venugaanam’---
As a Nilaya Vidwan of AIR from 1946, Papa played the violin for many great classical vocalists. He composed music for many wonderful devotional albums; many were landmark works with Seergazhi Govindarajan. The magic of the classic ‘Chinnanjiru penn pole’ is something very special. ‘Abirami Andhaadhi’ is, of course, the glittering jewel in Papa’s crown. Papa has also served as the Principal of Madras Music College.
Ramanna and Papa were classmates in Thanjavoor, and when G.Ramanathan, Ramanna’s original choice as Arunagirinathar’s MD took ill, Papa was Ramanna’s next choice. And Papa ensured the film’s success with his scintillating score. Except for this film, in the early 60s Ramanna worked only with MSV-TKR, and after 1965 alternated between MSV and TKR. However, in the early 70s, he made some quick low budget films, for which he again picked Papa. Yaen-1970, Marupiravi-1973 and Vairam-1974 were such collaborations.

T.R.Pappa was one of many under utilized composer in TFM. He may be dead, but his creations will not.
I have uploaded few of his songs:
1. “Aadi varum” by S.Govidarajan and S.Janaki from Thai Magalukku Kattiya Thaali.
This may not have been a hit, but definitely a soothing melody.
http://www.coolgoose.com/music/song.php?id=141491
2. One of all time Sinhalese hit `Seriyama sara’. Until I read Saravanan’s posting above, I had no idea that T.R.Pappa was the composer of this everlasting song.
http://www.coolgoose.com/music/song.php?id=141489
3. T.R.Pappa was the only MD who paired A.M.Rajah with T.V.Ratnam. Here is the song `Oviyanin Ullamthanai’ from Aasai.

It is sad to hear TR pApA's demise. I think sErkAzhi's many good songs were for TR pApA, who utilised sErkAzhi's potential fully in the play back singing. The songs namely Andavan ulagil and onralla irandalla tambi for MGR, kOthAdum kondaiyilE for a dance master, samarasam ulavum for a fakhir were classical.
I think he was sometimes MD for Megala pictures like Kuravanji and did some political party songs also. All the songs in kuravanji were nice, mostly CSJ for Sivaji. Of course for Citadel pictures, he put all his efforts. Probably he experimented well within his limited resources in those times. adichirukku nallathoru chance in nallvan vazhvAn was a real experimentation. Even used actors to sing like SA Asokan, Jayalalitha. He was fit for the low budget movies very nicely. I think he also did the music for sakkaram ( Gemini and AVM Rajan), pantahyam ( Gemini and AVM Rajan) and kalaiarasi (MGR). Always good tunes are his strength.

Prayer for the Dead
The departed souls remain in a state of swoon or unconsciousness immediately after death. They cannot feel that they are detached from their previous gross material bodies. Prayers, Kirtan, and good thoughts from relatives and friends can give real solace to the departed souls. They create a potent vibration and an awakening in their stupefied condition of mind, and bring back their veiled consciousness. The souls begin to realize that they are not really in their gross material bodies.
Then they endeavour to cross the borderland, a narrow river of ether, which is known as Vaitarani to the Hindus, as Chinnat-bridge to the Parsis, and Sirat to the Muslims.
When the departed souls are sinking peacefully and when they are ready to have a glorious awakening in heaven, they are roused into vivid remembrance of the mundane life by weeping and wailing of their friends and relatives. The thoughts of the mourning people produce similar vibrations in their minds and bring about acute pain and discomfort. And the uncontrolled grief of their relatives drags them down from their astral planes. This may seriously retard them on their way to the heaven-world. This produces serious injury to them.
