Vidyasagar for Hollywood!-This is no rumour, Vidhyasagar becomes the first Indian Music composer in Hollywood.
The honour of composing music for a true blue Hollywood flick goes to no.... not to A R Rahman or Ilayaraja, but to Vidyasagar. The film is Beyond the Soul directed by Rajeev Anchal,a director from Kerala whose Malayalam film Guru was an Oscar entry under foreign film category. The film was shot entirely in Chicago and the cast and crew are also Americans. The only exceptions are the director and music director. Vidyasagar composed the music in Hungary with a 100 piece Hungarian Orchestra. This is truly a first. He is the first Indian music director to do a Hollywood film.

The musical style and the instrument used which comes after all the "therinchiko" words can be found a lot in "Anbukku Naan Adimai" and many of IR's late 70's or early 80's songs and BGM.
VS's first song in "Villathi Villain" also has traces of IR's 'inspirtaion'.
Not surprising of course.

VidyaSagar is getting into the mould of Deva, I believe. I just watched an Ad for a new movie (MD: VS) featuring Vikram, Jyothika & Reema Sen, where the song is a blatant copy of Aqua's Dr. Jones. I suspect the movie is "Dhool". The other songs which they showed weren't that impressive as well.
I just can't believe, this is the guy who gave "Uyirodu Uyiraga", "Poovellam UnVasam" ....

I don't understand why so many people slate Vidyesegar. I think he has provided tfm wiv many good songs. Hasn't anyone heard Snehithiye songs? - some of them are brilliant such as Radhai Manathil, Devadhai Vamsam. If not then you MUST hear them - the film is wicked! - one of best i have seen. Vedham songs by Vidyesegar are also very good. Many people call Vidyesegar an AR Rahman or Deva wannabe - but i don't care as long as he produces good music.

The News is 100% correct, read this from Sify.com
Rajiv Anchal’s claim to fame was a Malayalam film Guru starring Mohanlal, which was India’s official entry to the 1997 Oscars, but failed to make it to the final five. The film was based on the spiritual teachings of a Trivandrum based late saint, Karunakara guru.
But Rajiv’s dream of making a Hollywood film, to propagate the mystique and myths surrounding Indian spiritualism and Ayurveda, the ancient medical science of India, has come true with his new film Beyond The Soul (see pic). An American company ‘Golden Wings cinema’ is funding the film and they have spent $3 million on Beyond The Soul.
Rajiv says, "Myself, Thampi Antony, a US based NRI and the music director are the only Indians associated with the film. I have used an American crew and cast. Actors like Melanie Braxton, Scott Anderson and Brian Berta are all doing theatre in the US. I am not looking at the festival circuit but for a proper theatrical release in US."
Rajiv wants to spread the message of Ayurveda which he feels is being accepted as a branch of medicine. It has the antidote to several incurable ailments. It is around these aspects that the thematic content of Beyond The Soul revolves.
"Even Nostradamus has predicted that the land surrounded by seven seas, which is India, will be the new light of knowledge and will enlighten the world after 20th century," adds Rajiv.
The film has a haunting background score by the current hot music director Vidyasagar.
