Gana Pattu v/s Dapaan Kuthu - Tamil Panpadu

Ladies & Gentlemen,
Machaans & Machis,

Ellarukum Vanakkam. I think we have had enough profound discussions on BGM, Jazz, WCM & Raagas.
As our great Tamil leaders say 'Athu Tamil panpadu Illai'. Our Tamil culture is Dapaan Kuthu & the mantle has been given to Gaana thanks to Deva.
Now the questions
Can somebody eloborate on what is the technical difference between the two ? Who is the best Music Director /singer of the Kuthu pattu ?

My vote is for IR & SPB . Can't think of a kuthu pattu by ARR

  yeah right, MV is the next after SPB in dapankuthu paadalghal. IR's dapankuthu is the proper village type dappan ghuthu paadalkal, while ARR fast beats songs have a better rhythm.
  
  while copy cat Deva's gana songs are all same, which are cloned from ceylon pop music, like A.E.Manohar.

  I like Dappan Kuthus a lot.Dappan Kuthus backed by gana pattus are excellent...par excellence in fact....And u wouldn't believe, I'm well versed in Dappan Kuthus.Actually my life itself after B.E is gonna be a big Dappan Kuthu ...So Gotto practise a lot...I would love Deva to publish books on Gana Pattus and Dappan Kuthu Steps which will be handy.....Mama Dol Duppi ma....

  His speciality is GAANA.

  What do you all really think of gaana? Why is not "considered" respectable to listen to it among certain elite/ class people?
  Are u aware if the social origins of this genre of music? It actually is rooted in the slums of north madras and is an expression of rural angst when the semi-literate labourer class comes in touch with the harsh realities of city life.
