I don't know if the movie actually represents the story of Pammal Sambandha MudaliyAr who wrote popular plays. Or is it another instance like Avvai Shanmugi which had nothing to do with Avvai Shanmugam, Kamal's mentor?
If it's the former, then it should be a 'period film' (I doubt it as the director is Mouli, known for his theatre-like comedies) and will YSR follow his peers' footsteps and give us techno and synth beats and sin(n)gers from Hindi 'enhancing' the las, Las and zhas thereby doing great justice to the language Tamil in general and TFM, in particular?

* IT'S FINALLY out. The word on Kamal's next release, that is. Kamal Hassan's next film after `Aala Vandhan' slated for a Tamil New Year's day release would be Diwali-release `Pammal K. Sambandham' (PKS), a full-length comedy to be directed by Mouli.
And guess what? It's Simran who's playing his lady-love, for the first time. Pssst! It was supposed to be kept under the hat, for the pooja is happening only on April 2.
Now that the news is out, here is more dope on Kamal's movie after PKS. Yes, it will be director Shankar's `Robot', the special effects special science-fiction flick with dialogues by Sujatha and music by... who-else but Rahman for a Shankar film!
`Robot' will get rolling by July, after Shankar's done with the `Mudhalvan' remake `Nayak'. Now, what's interesting is both `PKS' and `Robot' are films under the Media Dreams banner.

i saw the cassette release promo poster in madras it says DEVA is the MD for pammal sammandham. i think the name 'pammal' sammandam is named after the theatre doyen of tamilnadu sri. 'pammal' sammandham mudaliar. he is like 'avvai' shanmugam. i hope this film title is also just a name tribute to that doyen.
see the trend:
'avvai' shanmugi -> Deva -> Hit
'pammal' sammandam -> Deva -> ??

Better luck to Kamal (with YSR as MD?). Thenali has proved a success formula for Kamal. He should not pretend as he is sleeping.

Correction. It is Kamals Pammal K Sambandam. MD is ARR or Deva.

if my logic in my earlier posting is correct it should be 'pammal' K sambandham. Pammal is a place near chennai. Sambandham mudaliar was a doyen of theatre.
btw is BUMMEL the official name released??

More info. with photo album of the movie Pammal Sambandham, where Kamal plays a Stunt Master. His co-stars are Simran, Devayani and Abbas...
Kamal in the Puja snaps apparently is hiding his 'mottai' for 'ALavandhAn'.
BTW, I didn't see any 'recognizable' MD in the pictures. So, can it be the new kids(?) on the block, 'Sabesh-MuraLi' (yuck??) ;)

But to give Deva his due, a couple of his songs from 'Avvai Shanmugi' were copied note-by-note by debutant MDs in Hindi, Sanjeev-Darshan (Sons of Shravan, of Nadeem-Shravan duo) in Aishwarya-Anil Kapoor starrer, 'HamAra Dil Apke pAs hai'.

Robot was shelved to give more importance to boys. Heard a rumour that boys' production itself is shelved or moving in a snail's pace as shankar is discussing with rajini for his(rajini's) next movie. Since Boys' status itself is uncertain we are not sure about robot. Robot is slowly getting into the league of marudhanaayagam. Fortunately/Unfortunately, these two films are live only in IR and ARR's "upcoming albums" list.
