Nanbargale, I apologise. Chhaila has brought me back to my senses. Raja is certainly the original and does not have to change his style at all.

Apologise once again, the query came out twice.
All six songs of Chhaila are out of the universe, if I may say so.
I am hearing four songs of this tape for the first time, today. In particular, I think one of the all time greatest compositions is " CHAHUNGO MAIN TUMKO" and easily one of the most catchy tunes in recent times is "MASTANA, MASTANA".
Friends, can you please tell me how this Maestro movie fared in the Hindi film circuit?

Is this Chhaya a Hindi remake (or dubbing)
of Raasayyaa in Tamil?

SSK
As far as I know, it is the DUBBED Hindi version of the sori padam with sumaar songs - Raasaiyaa.

sumaar songs? I thought it had two very
good songs! In the other thread Nithin says there
are six good songs. I haven't listened to the
other 4.

As SathyaKeerthi told, I also remember 2 songs only..
1. Kaathalvanile..Kaathalvaanile.. Beautiful melody, has IR stamp all over it..
2. Mastaana, Mastaana Bhavatharini's first song in TFM; Chartbuster in the film; An OK song..
Rest??? - WHere is IR in this???
Chaila, the dubbed version of this film, banked heavily on PrabhuDeva's new-found popularity and as expected fall flat on its face.. Heard it was taken back from the theatres before two weeks..

SSK: Yes, it is a dubbing. I heard that the movie didn't do all that well, although Mastana did figure in some of the top ten charts some two years back.

The reason for my obviously redundant posting is that I have merged the two threads Mr. Nitin started.

Keerthi Sir:
Kaadhal Vaanilae Kaadhal Vaanilae is the best song in that movie, beautiful melody with terrific beats. Mastana Mastana is a feet-tapping song with some creative mixes.

"Raasaih" has it's share of crappy songs, as noted by others above.
Nithin, if this can "bring you back to your senses", you are too easy :-)

Dear Dev:
I have not heard Rasaiah's 5 songs. Because I happened to be in India at that time of Prabhu Deva fever. I asked my usual music shop about Rasaiah and he gave a negative reply. I believed him. Then, I did hear Mastana, Mastana which did not sound good at all in Tamil, whereas in Hindi it sounded more like a Hindi song and what a number. Kumar Sanu gave his best there.
Surprisingly, like everyone else on this thread, I have heard the other famous, amazing song ( I think in Tamil iit is the Kadhal Vannile song) with 3 layers of beats in the song. All of Rahman's later rhythm sounds came first in great measure in this Raja' song.
Let me continue. I bought Chhaila cassete just to hear the Kadhal Vannile in Hindi (Let me tell you it sounds a landmark composition like Mere Sone Mere Thamana...)
Then, I heard the other 4 songs for the first time. All the songs are typical Hindi tunes, not South Indian type songs (that is probably why the other 4 four did not make an impact!)
If I may request all of you here, please buy the Chhaila CD and give the other 4 songs just one hearing and I promise you will never leave the songs at all.
According to me, the most astounding composition for a long time (it easily beats any Rahman super song hollow) with some terrific Jazz type interludes is in the highly delicate number called Main Tumko Chahunga, etc..
Two are dappanguthu songs, really like our Kaettella Ange type dramatic melodies.
Again, like Ratchaga, this is one other movie in which I liked all the songs for the unique sounds and melodies in each one of the songs.
I am going to get the CD now! Trust my recommendations.

Yey, Mr. Nopagewasting
Why do you want to scrap this page? Are we not all discussing old songs of Ilaiyaraja and trying to revive interest in those compositions. There are many who are just beginning to enter the TFM. This page may be useful for them.
Let me tell you one thing, my friend, I am putting my feeling very softly as far as your remarks are concerned about this page. Watch yourself.
