  Songs of jOdi have grown on me after i felt surfieted with ESK. 'vaNNap poongAvai' and 'kAthal kaditham' are nice melodies. S. Janaki sounds amazingly fresh in this song compared to her other songs in the late 90's. Could you tell me what raga is this song based on , especially the second interlude? I see a combo of IR(violin orchestration) and MSV (flute melody)style in this second interlude. 'veLLi nilavE' is good for being a wonderful melody , but i didn't like the trumpet in the second interlude(this probably was needed for the situation in the movie) and it doesn't seem to fit in the melody. Other albums released in '99 like padayappa , monisha en monalisha and rajasthan are NOR WORTH even reviewing (except for minsara poove from padayappa). But, as IR himself pointed out once in an interview, i would 'go search for' melodies of my taste whereever available and hence i found 'Harikrishnans' as one the best in the recent years as for as melody is concerned. Could you review the album harikrishnans , especially for 'thamizh isai '(unnikrishnan,kjy and chitra) with respect to raga(s) used in the 'review of new albums' thread?

  Nalinakanthi is not an audava raga. An audava raga takes 5 notes in both the arohanam ( ascending ) and avarohanam ( descending ). Examples are as rajaG has given : Mohanam, Hindolam, Suddha Danyasi, Suddha Saveri, Madhyamavathi, Valaji, Varamu, Hamsadvani etc.
  
  BTW, Dr. Balamuralikrishna has released ( quite a while back ) a cassette with the Kalyani Adi Tala varnam, two of his own compositions in Kalyani and Thyagaraja's Sundari Nee. As rajaG says, he has cooked up Kalyani aviyal, Kalyani sambhar, Kalyani thogaiyyal and Kalyani Payasam - not in any particular order!! The treatment of Kalyani is very different in each case. And that, I suppose, is the point that rajaG is making.

  All AR album recently are only waste.AR really do not have music knowledge.I think Vidyasagar is far better than AR.AR only know to copy music just like Deva did.We can't compare IR with AR because this is very shame to music industries.IR is God of music.AR is god of copy and cheate.

  You should password enable this forum and make it mandatory for people to be read-only DFers for a period of 4 weeks before you allow them to post. Illana regulars like me are going to suffer in the face of such senseless posts like the one from Sivalingam. Perhaps you should restrict newcomers to delayed posting where their posts will be sanitized before being added to a thread. But I have my own doubts about this *.jaring.my domain, only senseless posts have ever come from it. Maybe you should ban it !

  E-Hari: Please look at my review of KD. It's in the ARR thread, amongst all the arguments....I quite liked it, but haven't given enough listenings. In fact, with Jodi, my appreciation really grew after many listenings, but with KD, my only favourite is Roja....One the whole though, it's a good album, IMO. Padayappa was indeed mediocre, with the exception of Minsaara Kanna.

  Friends, this is my experience so far.
  
  I love to listen to all of ARR's albums atleast once, becuase I am very curious and hopeful. No expectations. No guarantee Unfortunately, I don't find any reason to listen to them a third time. If anyone is a marketing manager looking for increasing sales dramatically, please factor in these three elements:
  
  Curiosity
  Hope
  Guarantee
  Guarantee is inversely proportional to Curiosity and hope. Expectation = Guarantee times satisfaction for 25 years. No expectation = Guarantee divided by satisfaction for 25 years

  Ravi: Firstly, Sorry, Secondly, I think you know as well as I do about what happened? I did review all three of ARR's new albums yesterday and also 2 of IR's new albums:) - This seems to have triggered a lot of un-lawful digression. I apologise again. I have also accepted truce, just maybe I shold start a thread in order to have my questions answered:)

  I read ur reviews, but you mentioned very little about kadhlar dinam, so my reason for asking it. I have listened to this album for more than few times in the web, and it is not growing on me (except maria maria and roja).
  If kadhalar dinam was not available in web, I
  could have ended up buying the album, as i always do. Who said, songs in the web are good for marketing?. :-)

  Hari: I wouldn't recommend you to expect anything on the web, especially on pages like Aingharan to sound good. A lot of the appeal is in the CD recording. I think that Aruvi summed up the album very well, so please read her review, it was very good.
  
  More ARR Info....
  
  A song picturization with Rehman and Vindya for the movie Sangamam took place in Jaisalmer's desert lands, with 60 dancers. Part of the song is picturized in Simla and Jaipur. Written by Vairamuthu and sung by Nithyasri, the song was choreographed by S Raghuram. The movie has a good mix of Bharatanatyam and folk dances. The movie is directed by Suresh Krishna.

  sangamam is also arr movie only.it will be great treat
  for our ears.to listen to this new arr album.i am not able to wait to hear the next new arr album.
  i listend to kadalar dinam today.it was great music.arr had done it again.simpley superb music.
  the first song in sun tv top 10 is padaiapa song and the second one is monisha tr song.
  padaiapa is also very good album.for all peoples who say that arr puts music slowly i want to tell you
  that arr had already put six music albums this year before april finishes.all of them are very very super hits.
  so here after wards arr hatred peoples should think before commenting on arr music.sivalingam should hear all these albums before comenting on arr music.i can also say sirpi is beter than ilayraja.immediately ir fans will say non sense.then,what sivalingam told was also nonsense.
