  IMO this was an ordinary tune, made fantastic by the prowess of the singers.
  There is an interesting anecdote. While recording this song both SPB and SJ couldn't do it simultaneously.
  So SJ finished her portion first. SPB came over listened to her portion and told the MD that he would sing it better than she did.
  I think SJ did a better job. Any dissenting voices?

  SPB's voice sounds soothing in all his duets. But in this song I liked both the singers.
  
  The tune might be ordinary, but I would like to hear such 'ordinary' songs more often! :)

  I think Vidhyasagar did an excellent job on this number; labelling it "ordinary" isn't doing him justice. To take Kannada (I think) raga, which is normally very melancholic, and to turn it into a romantic tune is no mean feat.
