  Kupps...I totally agree with your comments. Gnani tried to pretend like a Gnani by saying something different. There was no need to pull other MD's in. His comments are more publishable in TFM page than in Ambalam.

  The point is IR really deserves a Padma Sri,Padma Vibhushan its sad after achieving so many things he got little recogntion.
  I think TN govt should recommend highly for him.
  Kamal,Rajini,ARR all of them got but not IR
  now I am not belittling their achievement only complain why IR not being given.
  For person who has been in the industry for 25odd yrs and achieved so many milestones its a very sad indeed :(

  Kupps, you are right. The ambalam writer has published the response from people he interviewed. Usually, the press tries to present a 'statistical sample' of the prevailing opinion of the masses. But most times they end up presenting their own opinion. I think in this case, this response has been published to show that there is some fan following for Deva himself. Its okay, they have to represent different points of view.
  We should write back about the extraordinary musical features of gAnA :(
  As for folk music, I think it is the basis of carnatic music. It has grammar, it has rules, it has musical appeal. I think IR did a great contribution to the tamil music genre by using folk and carnatic music extensively. He enriched our music culture by using elements of western classical music unobtrusively. He took tamil/indian movies to higher standards with his BGM. He also explored various situation/opportunities for songs/music in the movies. To him music is not just songs, it is integral part of the movie. These things seem to have not dawned on our 'intellectuals'. Apart from all this, like Subbiah says, he is a living example of pure hardwork and creativity and a hope for all the disadvantaged people in our country. I think padmashri awards value goes down because it has not been recognised by IR !!!

  The article was very enjoyable.
  I especially enjoyed two parts of the article very much.
  1) Where the author says there is proof that ARR has copied and supplies the proof.
  
  2)Sensational solo male-Kanavu Kaanum vazhkai from Neengal Kettavai.This is one of my favourite songs too.Only IR could come up with such a tune.Great!Way to go.

  I'm trying to extract the facts from the article.I felt a few parts of the article were emotional and not entirely factual.But I'm not sure, because the whole article can be perfectly true.
  
  I'm interested in the facts that would show a better indication of IR's strength.
  I surely don't have anything against IR.But personally I don't like it if someone praises IR at the expense of others like Rajni,Kamal or AR Rahman.
  Primarily, this indicates a weakness of being a fan of someone.
  All the above in my humble opinion and has a very good chance of being total trash.

  Looks like a intelligent way of extending geographically a song's reach.I think we should appreciate both the MDs for that.
  If this was not done,I wouldn't have got my "Kanavu kaanum vaazhkai" and Hindi fans would have missed out "Ilayanila"

  When 'Payanagal mudivathilai' was remade in Hindi, KA decided to use few of the tamil songs. Raja too gave the notes for the song to KA team, as they felt parts of it was complex. May be Raja felt its humble from KA's (for someone who can make a classic like ek tuje ke liye) part to use his song. So, he used one of KA's classic in his movie. Just heard so in this forum.

  I was in Cheenai last week. Couldn't find any Ullam Kollai Poguthe Cds. They tell me the Cds are selling like hot cakes. The first 2 weeks this CD hardly sold. No they can't find enough copies. I think that the songs are FANTASTIC!!!
