  Attention Singapore Residents: There is a programme on Prime12 on Tuesday around 7pm, titled 'Maestro Ilayaraja'. It started last week. I missed an episode. I think it is going to be a serial for a few weeks.

  Sorry Aravind. I thought you would have seen it.
  I did watch last week's episode. They are showing
  the "Symphony Vizhaz" that was held in Madras
  several months ago. In between, they are doing
  some interviews + some songs in patches. Last
  week they interviewed Sivakumar and Sarath Babu.
  It seems SPB, Karthik and others will be talking
  about IR in this week. Of course, the whole TF
  world was present. IR was garlanded from head to
  foot and he was full of smiles. Since you are
  a great IR fan you would have been pullarichchufied!
  Any way, don't miss the rest of it (to be shown for
  4 more weeks, I am told).

  Two years back the same serial was played for six weeks in GEC/VIJAY TV. The title of the program was "RAJA RAJA THAAN".
  
  Last episode was about press meeting;
  blashback:
  Rajini, kamal, Sivaji are in the stage; Kamal is showing the symphony notes(big book) to the press:
  IR is explaining about his symphony, (how he wrote? why? what?...etc..etc..)
  At the end of his explanation, he is crying....and he told that "ithai ungaludan pagirnthukollamal veru yaridam sollvean; nanri; vanakkam".

  Yesterday's episode of Raja Rajadhaan:
  
  Nadigar Thilagam & Maestro Raja garlanding the
  visitors from London & giving them momentoes.
  
  Asha Bhonsle sings a few lines of shenbagamE
  shenbagamE.. and says Raja is a great great MD. Revathi garlands Asha B.
  ... break to chinna chinna vaNNakkuyil of
  Udhaya Geetham for 2 mins.
  
  Interview with Director Mahendran (I think). He
  says: IR is on the lines of TiruvaLLuvar and
  Shakespeare; this symphony is only a small
  achievement as far as Raja is concerned; he is
  capable of much bigger achievements ... break
  the song, sinOreetaa, I love you from
  Johnny for 2 mins.
  
  Interview with Rajkiran. He says: I don't know
  anything about music, so I will not talk about
  IR's musical abilities. Naan sollap pOvadhu avarudaya
  guNangaLaip patri: eLimai, thannadakkam, suya
  kattuppaadu etc. IR vaazhndha kaalaththil naanum
  vaazhndhEn endru enakku perumaiyaaga irukku.

  Back to the Symphony Show. Karthik comes on
  to the podium. He is not clear about what to speak.
  Says: SPB asked me to talk like ThirukkuraL
  (he means "short"). Enna solvadhu endru theriyavillai.
  Naan sollap pOvadhu ondruthaan. IR is music, music
  is IR. (something along those lines)
  
  Then SPB comes on. He says: naan Raja-vudan innum
  pOdaa-vaadaa endruthaan pazhagugiREn. Vaadaa Raja.
  He calls IR to come. They look at each other.
  (I felt the real feeling missing, folks. If the two
  had been real "pOdaa-vaadaa" friends there would
  have been tears at such an instant! I didn't see any
  of that. Although they were physically so near,
  to me they appeared to be a BIG mental distance
  apart!) Then SPB's wife (or daughter?) IR kaalai
  thottaanga. (Again, yaarO force paNNadhaal seydhadhu
  pOl enakkup pattadhu. avanga mugaththil avvaLavu seriousness!)
  
  AppuRam ovvoruvaraa stage vandhu IR-ukku maalai

  I have been following this SPBs "pOda vAda" stuff of IR quite sometime. I think in 1990, in his interview for Week ( i do have that copy), SPB clarified about his relationship with IR. He goes on saying, "innaikku fieldla IRai pOda vAda enru koopidum orE AaL naan thaan! Naangal kadandhu vandha paadhai vEru yaarum vandhirukka mudiyaadhu!
  We are very thick friends. Time kidaichaal IRukku paadugirEn! Avvalavudhaan!

  GREAT song. This is one of those songs
  (like muththukkaLO kaNgaL) which you can
  hear any number of times without getting bored
  at all! In the early days of IR this was the song
