Please restrict yourself to the songs that came in the period from the advent of Ilayaraja to roughly the advent of Mohan in Tamil Films. ie. 1976 - 1981/82.

  MSV-IR are MDs for Mellath Thirandthathu Kathavu. Melody portion by MSV and Instrument portion by IR. Both of them excelled.

  i am looking for a fantastic fast romantic song by IR in the late 70s (very popular in ilankai oliparappu kootu sthanapanam) sung by SJ & MV. the first interlude takes off with a guitar phrase and then turns into flute and then the violins. the second interlude has a lot of guitar and vocals, and the song goes: azhagiya malargalil puthu vitha rahasiyamo la laa la la laa la - la.
  
  does anyone know the film please? this song was available at MPR's site about 3 or 4 years to celebrate IR's 55th birthday and MPR had kept 55 superb SJanaki duets...

  i think the name of the movies is something like aparadhi or something, but it is not listed in discography of IR in raajangahm.com. the lyrics is wrong but something similare sounding. this movies came out in 178-1982 time frame.

  There was a Karthik movie called Edhir Kaatru (isai: IR), which had a nice song by Uma Ramanan - Raja illa rani endrum ranithan. Often aired by AIR. Does anybody remember the song? What are the other songs in this movie? Did it run well?

  Please check out "Kathal Panpadu" from Eera Vizhi Kaviyangal...you can find it at www.raaja.com under rare songs. You can also find it under Prasanna's fav songs article on the Raaja site. It's an incredible number to have come out in 1981...very experimental. It blew me away !!

  Better the thread can be renamed as "IRs early songs". I like those songs than his later ones.

  I agree, it is better to make the title as explicit as possible. Plus, there should be a rating system, like the movies. That should prevent 12 and 13 year-olds from accessing this thread and making inane comments. :)
  
  BTW did IR score the music for 47 naatkal *ing Chiranjeevi? The movie has an awesome song: maan kanda sorgangal. Great lyrics too.

  No..I think 47 naatkal was MSV...I do agree that song is really great. If you notice the interludes and the beats, you will notice that it not in IR's style.

  "Naan Kanda Sorgangkal" was by MSV.
  Rush: I slightly disagree with your point. It was not IR's style. IRs entry influenced a change in instrument usage. (like the keyboard usage now) This is also one such. If u listen keenly u will find the typical MSV style. But this song went unnoticed due to fresh IR songs.

  Raghavan, I'm sorry I didn't get your point. I was merely saying that this song was clearly in MSV's own style. Of course, the orchestration does use the keyboards extensively(which could be an influence of Raaja), but on the whole, this is vintage MSV as far as the tune is concerned. I'm also struck by the fact that this song fits very well in the movie...it's really amazing.

  Krishna Krishna, there is one song from film Ulaasaparavaigal sung by SJ chorus

  There is another song in Revathi raagam. It is sung by SJ and SPB.The music is ofcourse IR and the movie must have got released between 1983 - 1986.
  The song is 'Neeya azhaithathu
  En nenjil minnal vedithathu'.
