Singer Devan

Most of you wold know singer Devan by now. He has done songs like "o maria", "ore nyabagam", "macarena", "monalisa"...etc. I am thinking of starting a fanclub for him in yahoo but will now proceed until I'm sure that there are a number of people who are interested in joining.   Samyee Aye Aye... from Kandukonden Kandukonden is another good one. The one I am impressed with his singing recently is 'Partheen Partheen... Suda Suda Rasitheen' from Partheen Rasithen.
  
  I am sure he has a lot of style and you should see him sing live in stage. This guy sings every song effortlessly on stage (esp., Macereena...) and keeps the audience captive all the time.

  He is one of those monsters created by the jingle composer brigade...
  Doesn't the Tamil audience deserve better playback singers who CAN sing in TAMIL?
  People like Devan, Dominique, TIPU and Sukhwinder Singh are PATHETIC when it comes to pronunciation and the 'EMPEROR of LYRICISTS' just looks on while the recording is in progress, not bothering to correct! Moments later he's attending film parties and political rallies vaxing eloquent on the 'sorry' state of Tamil!! What a shame!
  
  Make an attempt at getting the Tamil words right, Deven boy, before you start basking in the glory of fan clubs.
  You must be new to Tamil (or may be you belong to the so-called elite gang in Chennai where knowing good Tamil is a shame). So you probably don't know that there are Fan Clubs for even midgets who put in a 2 minute performance in B-grade films. Ask anyone from Madurai (which by the way is a thriving, ancient Tamil city)!

  I think 'Paarththaen Rasiththaen' song is NOT by Devan - it is sung by Yugendiran - S/O Malaysia Vasudevan and Villan in Poovellaam un vaasam.,

  I do not believe you people!!!! I agree he does kill tamil but come, on give him a chance. He has got a heavy voice and for a guy who is born and bought up in America so you have to give him credit for that. Any way we are moving on in time and we need different voices and different music without loosing the tradition. We still have singers like SPB and Unnikrishnan to keep that up. STOP PICKING OUT THE BAD THINGS AND TRY TO LOOK AT SOMETHING FROM A GOOD POINT OF VIEW FOR ONCE!!

  Jeya, let me point out to you that simply because Devan is from USA, does not mean that we should allow for his poor pronunciation of Tamil. I know many singers living abroad who sing much better than Devan.Devan's only selling point is that he is from USA and flies in to sing. Personally I think the film producers should save the money wasted on flying him in and spend it on some local talen who will be more financially worth.

  I don't see why you are blaming him for?!!! It's most of the general public who liked his voice and the western style he bought with him. As I said the time is moving on and MOST of the tamil people are changing their lifestyles and forget about the tamil culture and the ancient history that is within it. It doesn't take just one person like Devan to triger this trend. Look at tamil films, more than half of it contains english languge and it is named a tamil film!!! Before, singers got awards for having a really good tamil pronunciation but now it's not about that. It's all about 'trying' to style out tamil because that's what there is demand for aint it?! so if you want to blame someone for this blame the people who think that sangeetam and all the other cultural stuff is rubbish!!!!!!

  poor devan has got no job in hand .Watch him talking forget singing so badly in Podigai tv doing some stupid phone talk show wishing velai illadha makkal calling up saying nethu porandhanaal,nalaikku wedding annvy etc.

  talking about tamil Ucharippu.....I am suprised that these singers, esp TIPPU, KK etc are getting bad comments about their pronounciation...if this is called bad..then what do you call UDIT NARAYANAN ?? His Joodi Piranthava with his Poda Poora was ...GOD!! no words to comment.. Isn't there any Tamil speaking Gajel singers ?? No doubt he is good in hindi songs & he should stick strictly to THAT ONLY !!
