Unsung Heroes Behind the Scene Role of a MD Assistant(s)

Friends
Everyone of us like a MD of our taste.
But little are we aware that there is genuinely talented assistants who help the MD a lot.
In fact in many cases they actually run the show but the glory goes to the MD.
I dont want to bring up names but for example
A famous MD with name of Lord Indira has his brothers supporting him,Infact the entire orchestration like chords,rthym and overall arrangement is done by them without these brothers i dont think people would listen to his songs this goes for many people when director Bhagyaraj tried his hand on music it was these behind scene assistant who ran the show
There are exception like IR who himself was a assistant to MD Venkatesh later got into the limelight ofcourse IR has his own set of Assistants and same goes with ARR in their case they help them out but in the former case and some other MD these poor people never get their due share

  I understand MSV had Govardhan and KVMahadevan had Pugalandhi as their competent assistants...I hear both these assistants never got magor break till the end...Most of them...these assistants end up as mere instrument players at the Fag ened of their careers...a.a.a.

  mm...ir had v.s.narashiman, g.k.ventesh,
  G.Amaran and few more.
  
  Arr has people like Jayraja (he is doing music for a movie now for a new director gautam), srinvasa murthy, Noel james etc,
  
  now for the fuel:
  Apart from the above list for arr, all the singers and instrumentalists he uses are his assts, they improvise for him, a form of composition.
  
  for ir:there is no room for improvising,because he does not know it, he is so structured!..

  Brilliant idea!How abt casting Ramarajan in a dual role in both the brothers' roles?It would drastically reduce my costume costs(say a couple of shorts shld be enough).

  MSV himself was an assistant to SM Subbaiah Naidu and CR Subbraman.His Assistants like Govardhan and GKV did many movies but they were unable to sustain.
  1 .Govardhan must have adone a dozen movies ;but for Nadhaaswara Oosaiyile and Sivagami maganidam sethi solladi his songs were below average.
  
  2.GKV did more movies incl Varaprasatham (Gangai nadhi ooram KJY/Vani) and Ponnukku thanga manasu (then sinduthey vanam) .But listen to Kashmir Kathali.Songs range from average to mediocre.
  
  3.VS Narasimhan may be a great violinist.But Achamillai was a diaster.So was Kalyana Agathigal.
  
  The truth is that assistants like VSN,Pugazenthi,GKV have certain special talents which have been used effectively by MSV/IR.
  Even now a certain MD by the name MSV Raja (who composed music for a Abavanan magnum flop) plays the clarinet for ARR in Padayappa.The piece is really well played. But even a name like MSV Raja did not give him a second movie.

  Forgot to add ML Srikant (who worked for MSV and hums in Kathal Kathal (U.U.Vaa))did a movie called Nianipathu Niraiverum.The title song was a hit those days.He too flopped.
  
  Shankar Ganesh were MSV's assitants and they were in the top bracket for some time.They managed to sustain and gave real hits like Unnai Naan Paarthathu (SPB)-till date one of the best song for stage performance.This song infact gave Kamal a playboy image.

  Achamillai was a disaster??!!! man, i have to disagree with you. i think VS did a fine job with the two good songs (aavarampoovu, odugira thanniyile). sad that VSN didn't make it big despite goos work in movies like Puthiyavan and Kalyana Agathigal.
  
  MSV used to have an assistant (or maybe arranger, not sure) named Joseph Krishna who remained one all his life.

  Narasimhan did well in '1000 pookkaL malarattum', and 'oru veedu iru vaasal'. Though the latter had no songs, the violin usage in the BGM was awesome. Probably more inspired b'cos one of the the heros is a violin player.

  Are you sure? I still think Varaprasatham is by GKV.Anyway that was a great song but it still did not help the MD's career.
  
  Achamilaai -yes Awarambu is remembered for SPB and Suseela.But the Orchestra was far from satisfactory.
  Kaile kassu was really bad.It neither has the nativity nor the feel.
  
  Kalyana Agathigal -The Raj Seetharaman-PS duet is another example for lack of cohesiveness and bad music arrangement.
  
  Joseph Krishna composed music for some christian religious song.I heard them long back ..But thank god that you did not get that opportunity.
  
  Even TKR ,after the separation from MSV ,could not sustain because he was only a great violinist and a good music arranger.I think for MSV men like Henry Daniels and Joseph Krishna filled the gap.
  
  If what Mr.Vijay says turns out to be true then no wonder Ilayaraja is in such a bad shape now.All believers please pray !SA Rajkumar alias Rende (only two) Tune Rajkumar is an apology to music profession.
