Heheh...sorry..Everyone starts their thread with a question or a statement abt singers/MD and complaints..So I thought I try something different..If it caught ur attention..pretty good.
If not, well, I shouldn't enter the advertising field (JK).
Ok, here's something that has made me thinking for a while. All right the year is 2001, we're getting a lot of variety in songs and new instruments are emerging into the field.
In about,,,,oh say, 20-30 years from now (2021-2031 for those slow in math), how do ya think our TFM music will change or stay the same?

Much better title for a thread than many others we have here :) :)
(BTW, for those who are outside US, 'Got Milk' is an ad slogan made popular by the american dairy/milk producers association or some org like that .. yes ..US is a country where people advertise/market milk, egg, salt etc !!!)

Sorry , I assumed u all knew Got milk. We have that commercial in canada.
I think in after a long period of time, music will soon start to get repetitive. It can go only so far, could it??
BTW, suresh: who's ramarjan(if its supposed to be a sarcastic comment, i'm sorry, i didn't get it:(

Kiru - u r correct..... but also i thought the advt was paid by all the Milk producers together.... do we have anything like this - wherein all the competitors join and advertise together ?
as far as the answer to the thread - i dont think it will detoriarate.... its just going to be a cycle.... we will find someone else who changes the trend for the *next generation* (the one that will come out of the current POP generation, and fed up with POP and everything)...... hopefully :-)

This commodity advertising - when one commodity is under threat from another commodity (as opposed two brands) you can see this type of advertising.
In India I remember Jute manufacturers association promoting jute.

Don't you guys remember 'Operation Flood', launched sometime in mid-80s in India? It was an ad on TV, magazines etc, asking people to drink 2 glasses of milk a day. But that was sponsored by Govt. of India.

So, ur telling me there's no ads for milk, eggs, etc in India (or wherever ur from)? Wow....thats strange...I mean I love those stupid/phony drink milk commercials..especially the ones where the baseball players come in those 'cow' tights :):)
Oops, I'm off topic.
Sabesan- I didn't mean to say its going to detoriarate, just thinking if we're going to get more variety in songs. And will we totally westernized by then? I mean, u all can say western music is diffenitely influenceing TFM.

Guys..this kind of advertising for milk and eggs is not absent in india...Operation flood was for milk,Amul also contributed with their promotion of milk and there was "meri jaan meri jaan murgi ke ande.." campaign for eggs , and there are ads promoting handicrafts ,jute cotton etc by thier respective cooperatives.
pg: i am not sure the commodity advertising is done totally to counter the competition from other commodities /brands...but the idea could be help the whole industry as such .It is Generic advertising ..like the "diamonds are forever" campaign by De Beers ..u can notice that their name appaers nowhere but the diamond itself is advertised..jute was one such thing i thought...
anyway advertising gurus..correct me if i am wrong

Wow guys, I only used this Got milk to get attention, not to talk abt advertising or I'll be like the other members talking absolute nothing and things that are pointless wasting energy.
but i guess the got milk stuff is more interesting than the question...hehehe...

The movie 'Manthan' (directed by Shyam Benegal, starring Girish Karnad and Smita Patil) was financed jointly by all the Milk producers' unions of Gujarat. The titles begin with '35,000 farmers of Gujarat present Manthan'. Of course it is not about milk, it is about co-operation. Good movie with nice music by Vanraj Bhatia.
Anyway, other milk songs - paal mana paal enRa ninaippaal, paal vaNNa paruvam kaNdu etc.

Wow.. this thread is a nice example of how contents change when message is passed from one person to another :-)) We r totally into discussg milk and milk songs, and the orginal topic of music degradation and (the sub topic of advtising :))) r both lost.. :-)))))))))))
BTW from my side.. I am one of those who always wonder how long can one keep composing different tunes... given the number of composers and songs that come out every year... there is bound to be a cycle somewhere soon... (or maybe there already
is.. :(( )

My point exactly Kumar...it is already happening even with IR and ARR...and it is going to become more tougher from now on...
