Many times every IR fan would have wanted to have the golden rare songs of IR on CDs. Could we list the availability of such CDs and where it can be bought?

My first request list is:
1) Edho Mogham of Kozhi koovudhu (if the CD has Poove Ilaiya Poove also, that will be great)
2) Ennulle Ennulle WITH the initial mridhangam sequence - Valli
3) Mella Mella - Vaazhkai
4) Kanna Varuvaya - Manadhil Urudhi Vendum
5) Dalapathi with Putham Pudhu Poo Poothadho
6) Nizhalgal songs
7) Alaigal Oyvadhillai with 'Putham Pudhu Kaalai'
I would like to know if the above songs are available on CD, if so where can I buy it (I am now in US), will the recording be at least decent. Any info is appreciated! Will ask more soon.
If someone could provide info that they already know, that will be great!
Thanks,
Murali

These CDs are available:
(1) Kaatriniley varum geedham, gayathri, mudhal iravu and Manipoor maamiyaar - all in one CD
(2) 16 vayadhiniley, kavikuyil, annakili (including that haunting song 'udhayam varugindradhey malargal malargindradhey by SJ from Kavikuyil)
(3) kavarimaan, naan vaazha vaippaen, nalladhor kudumbam, pattakathi bhairavan - in one CD
(4) pudhu nellu pudhu naathu, en uyir thozhan, thangamaana raasa - in one CD (with machi mannaru from enn uyir thozhan - a fabulous song)
(5) poovilangu, geetanjali and pagal nilavu - in one CD
(6) vaadhiyaar veetu pillai, kadhal parisu and sirayil sila raagangal - but unfortunately that great song .. 'puraakkaley puraakkaley pon maanai thedungal' from Kadhal parisu is missing.
I hope that helps.

Sriram: one more combo
1. Vaazhkai/Alai Osai. all of these albums are pirated ones. Some songs are in good shape, while others are bad.
For Example, in Gayathiri, 'Kamaatchi adi Meenatchi...' is a horrible recording.

I got some great combos:
1)Johnny, Azhagae Unnai Aaraadhikkiraen, Tharayil Vaazhum Meengal--put out by INRECO.
2)Paandi Naattuth Thangam, Thendralae Ennaith Thodu, Ninaivellaam Nithya--Parveen's Audio.
3)Malaiyoor Mambattiyaan, Vellai Roja, Saadhanai--Lakshmi Audio.(Probably from Singapore)
4)Anbae Oadi Vaa, Salangayil Oru Sangeetham, Nalla Naal--Lakshmi Audio.
5)Tharmayuththam, Naan Poatta Savaal, Buvanaa Oru Kaelvikkuri, Pollaathavan
6)Ullaasap Paravaigal, Panneer Nadhigal, Malargalae Malarungal--INRECO.
Of course, I realize not all of these combos are entirely IR, but they are all good buys.

Udhaya:
Is there a reliable on-line store that these CDs can be bought from ?

Not that I know of Srinath. At least not these kind of CDs. All these CDs were rare finds. I scoured every nook and cranny to buy these. Some I got through a contact in Singapore (all the Lakshmi Audio stuff). The rest I found in an alley shop across from Burma Bazaar in Chennai (for about Rs.175-225).
A music store in Spencer Plaza in Chennai also has some good oldies but they charge Rs. 300-400 per CD. If I find a good source on-line, I'll let you know.

Hi all,
Thanks for all the info. But I am afraid, we haven't discussed abt the songs/movies that I had mentioned. Also, if there is any online source from where I can order, that will be great. I reside in bay area, US. I have tried Kumud, got a few numbers, but they don't have all the combos. Is there any other good shop in bay area or on the web?
Also, do the above combos have good recording? I bought a couple of EMI recordings CDs (One great collxn of Raja songs [Annakkili, Sendhoorap poove, Andhi mazhai, Ramanin mohanam, etc] and another EMI CD (Kalyanarama/Meendum Kokila/Ilamai Oonjaladugiradhu), both had very poor recording :(
I am really looking for a nice quality CD with Edho Mogam, Ennulle Ennulle (with mridhangam prelude), etc...

Thanks anyway Udhaya. About 3 months back, I stopped over in Singapore on my way to India. I'm still kicking my back for not purchasing IR CDs from there inspite of advice from others :-(

Dear Gurumoorthy (I like the name, remeber the role of Delli Ganesh in sindhi bhairavi, great performance)
well, sorry for the initial digression, what combos of IR movies do you have, more than that How is the recording quality, I bought some of the old IR combos from Lakshmi audio, the lousiest recording u will ever get, I strongly discourage all genuine fans from buying Lakshmi Audio CDs

I recently Bought EMI/RPG that was made in India. Extremely bad recording. Don't buy this one. Usually EMI/RPG CDs that are made either in USA or UK are okey.

Shyam,
No it is by MSV.
- From: Muralidharan (@ host004.databean.com)
on: Fri Oct 22 19:43:02 EDT 1999
Shyam,
That is really a great song by MSV/SPB!
Naan kaNda sorgangal, kaalam pogap poga yavum vetkangale.
Yen rendu pakkangalo, yen nenjil pongum dhukkangalo....
Another similar very nice SPB-MSV song is:
kanak kaaNum kaNgaL mella,
uRangadho paadal solla,
vizhak kaala medai ellam,
ulap pogum neram kaNNe... (or something like that)
Which film is this? I think it is some Sivakumar, Saritha film.
Anyone ever found these songs in a casette or CD?

The songs available are

2. Anadha ragam ( panner pushpangal)
3. Tham thadhithom ( tik tik tik)
4. kalyanam ennai mudika ( metti)

Hari,
Wow, these are great numbers and it is truly a great combo, unlike some of the HMV ones that have been brought out, in which for every 2 great vintage songs, there are 5 'kuppai' songs.
Is Music India still available as a label, or has it been taken over by a giant music company?
Thanks
Neels
