There have been many MD's over the years which have shaped up the Indian Film Industry. What is your opinion on the best Hindi film MD and the best Tamil film MD. Give reasons and explinations. I like Shanker-Jaikishan, Laxmikant Pyarelal, R.D. Burman and Madan Mohan as well as others. I feel today that mostly all MD's, hindi and tamil are making music in R.D. Burman's style. What we are doing now he did 20 years ago. Almost all MD's in India look up to Panchamda such as Illyaraja and A.R. Rahman etc as well as get inspirations from other greats. What is your opinion ???

R.D.Burman and M.S.Viswanathan
Consistent melody in Pallavis as well as Charanams
Very stylish at the same time not moving away from nativity
Extracted the best from singers and never allowed the singers to kill the language....

Illyaraja is a big time Panchamda fan. It is said that he used to go this restaurant in Chennei which was playing hindi songs and listen to them. He was inspired by Panchamda and that is the true facts !!

It doesn't mean that he can't surprass him but it does mean that what music he makes is somewhat in the style of the person he is inspired by . In this case Illyraja being inspired by Panchamda !!
