Last Month only Govt asked for the film makers to apply for the national award..so it will take some time.

last date for applications in june 17. then, constitution of jury. the screenings. awards probably by july first week or second week.

i've a gut feeling KM wud pip Kasi (if they were in the same year) to get the ntl awd.
Seeing (& hearing of course) Kasi only made me applaud Vik's acting.
Hearing (who was seeing ne way??!! But the visuals were tops.. literally on top of Buddha!) KM (JC's version) got me choked!

In hindu or some other news paper, I saw a news item about a award ceremony. 9 awards were given to Nanda. One male playback award is also inclusive in that..(don't know whether it is for SPB), but no award mentioned for the MD.

It has been announced today..but no happy news..

Best Actor = Malayalam Actor Murali..

Best Actress = Tabu and Shobana

Best film =Dweepa

Best Director = Lenin

Best Entertainment Movie = Lagaan..

But no news about Music winners...Waiting to here good news atleast in that line..

But this 2 did not happen...atleast its good to hear that ARR got it..

Though Song is good i did not expect SS would get the award for Azhagi...Congrats for her also...IR will be happy for that...

Ok...I had thought Azhagi would get the best award for Tamil film. Have never heard of the film that did win. I wonder how Mitr-my friend was released around the same time as KM but got placed into last years category. Or did KM lose out? I expected it to win a lot of the technical side awards, especially cinematography and art direction. Simran and Keerthana also put in an award-winning performance. Hopefully, it will get it next year. Still, Azhagi let me down:-) Saadhana? I prefer "ozhiyilea therivathu" song since Karthik sounded really good(if Mitwa can get an award, why not this:-)), but I guess they were afraid they would have to award Bavatharani(again) as well:-)

Kannathil Muthmittal doesn't deserve award. I guess Keerthana's acting is little over rated. Compared to 'Neenas' acting in Keladi Kanmani, 'Shamilis' acting in Anjali, 'Shalinis' acting in Mamatti kutti ammavukku (tamil En bommukutti ammavukku). Infact those two movies were far better than Kannathil Muthamittal. They didn't win award i believe.

Comparing Neena's KK role with the role that the other 3 children played is unfortunate, considering that Neena's was a brief appearance while the film itself runs on the childrens' characters for the other 3. Shamili did win, along with the other 2 kids. Don't know about Maamatti kutti ammavukku...but Keerthana was a natural in KM, that is the general opinion. And KM does deserve a few awards. Although the story went out of hands in the second half, it was fabulous film making.

I guess it is not important how long the artist appears on the screen. Beatrice Straight won oscar for best supporting actress for her less than 8 minute performance in the movie Network.
I guess Neena did pretty good. Shamili's acting was fantastic. But it was supposed to be a sympathetic character. Anywayz i will leave out Shalini and Shamili. Keerthana's role is somewhat irritating. Her acting is not that good. Story itself is little farfetched. You don't break the news to your step daughter at the age 10. You don't take her to Srilanka during war time no matter how much you love your step daughter as you may potentially lose your step daughter and your wife as well. It was little illogical. As i agree Madhavan produced a stunning performance i have to disagree on Keerthana.

Udit got the award for Jaane Kyoon from Dil chahatha hai and for all other songs of Lagaan...He very much deserves this Award....He certainly has the best boyish,stylish and uniqe voice and hearing him singing in telugu also is real treat...Many more awards to UDIT...in the future.....Srinivasa Rao

Apart from sterling performance from Madhavan there was nothing special in KM. Watch SPB's performance in KK. Watch Radikha's performance in KK. Watch Poornam and Srividhya as dead and dumb in that. How realistic that movie was. Watch Anju's and Neena's performance. Forget about IR. He was outstanding in it anywayz. Just look at the story line and the powerful dialogues. Directed by Balachander's sishyan!!. It was really touching.

They must have forgoten to give awards to
